2/1/19 OGs and Tractors Backblast: Pilots for All

QIC: Patch

Date: 2/1/19

PAX: Chomper, Burlap, Wiki, Bam, Juicebox, Resistor, Valdeze, Redye, Balco, IF, Bluto, Rustbucket, razy hazer, Toto, glazer, Zima, Van gogh, Wink, Vig, mongoose, Bev, Sac, little piggy, Zuck, Van pelt, Booboo, Palin, Suede, Greenspan, Butter, Lysol, Wiggles

A sellout crowd of 33 Pax couldn’t resist the call to climb the Pilot.  I’m not sure if it was the inability to get the lyrics of 21 Pilots out of their heads or the beckoning call of the challenge to summit that Jungfraujoche we call Pilot View, but the Pax they came in droves.  Maybe it was the balmy (compared with yesterday) 24 degree morning, or maybe it was the fellowship.  I know YHC experienced great fellowship.  All along the route this morning I was greeted with glad tidings and passionate hellos.  Many Pax seemed particularly interested in pointing out holes to me.  I couldn’t quite make out the first part of the comments, but assumed they were highlighting the potholes in the road.  Oh how pleasant.  It reminded me of the joy Buddy has in the movie Elf, but I just couldn’t put my finger on the connection.

See below for details of the run.

COT:

Run Ranger Run – 3 F3WS teams, interest/donations/support see Van Gogh

Dog Pound meets tomorrow at 7 am at MORGAN ELEMENTARY (not somewhere else called sadclown).  Starfish on the Q.

JDL indoor track meet is tonight and tomorrow.  Big event with elite olympic runners.  $10 adults, $5 students, kids under 12 free.

Homeless overflow shelters in the area need volunteers.  See Zuck for info.

TR welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world.  Welcome Teddy!

I mentioned in the preblast, but if you need an inspiring story, check out the one below.  Fairly amazing.  Thanks as always for the opportunity to Q.  Thankful for you guys!!  -Patch

If you don’t know the story of Colin O’Brady becoming the first person to cross Antarctica solo, check it out.  Quick synopsis: 10 years ago he was in an accident with terrible burns and 20% of his body was burned.  Doctors told him he’d never walk again.  His mother told him to dream of what he could accomplish once he could walk again.  He dreamed pretty big.  Inspiring story of how we all have the ability inside us to conquer goals much larger than we might think.  Dream big and conquer big!!!

Hadnt been out to OG’s in quite a while, great to see some faces I’ve not crossed paths with in just as long. Even better was running with @Chomper, whom I hadn’t seen since a hike up Grandfather Mountain last winter. He was clearly sandbagging the first 5 miles because he led me on our fastest mile to bring it home… thanks for the push, brother! Thanks for the route @Patch, reminded me of BRR season…

YHC didn’t use the word with “hole” in it when I saw you. I simply said loudly, “You suck!” Felt pretty good at the time, in part because Pilot View was behind us. (Thx for Qing.)
