Today’s Q’s Random Musings:
  • Congratulations to the crazies who did a RIRO (BAM, TMN, Huckleberry, and Spam).  What the hell is wrong with you? Message received – my workout was not nearly difficult enough.  I’ll try to do better next time.
  • Let’s all hope D-Day gets better.  He severely injured his wrist playing with his rocks.  His words, not mine.
  • Some people are considered Fastholes for their ability to sustain a quicker than average running pace for a lengthy period of time.  However, I challenge any of those so-called Fastholes to take on Pony in a straight up 40 yard dash (although, please give him a few yards to get up to speed).  Once he gets that big diesel revved up, that boy can move. He’s like a freight train coming towards you on the tracks (if a freight train is super nice with a giant smile).  He’s not called THE Pony “Express” for nothing.
  • Poor Parkay.  He thought he chose wisely by grabbing what appeared to be a grain of sand during the rock selection process.  Unfortunately, the unsympathetic Q made the PAX switch rocks with their neighbor each round. I almost felt bad … almost.
  • “Don’t stare directly at him … yada, yada, yada …”  You guys know the drill by now. You know what though?  LEARN TO KEEP UP!!!
  • Let’s be honest.  This is Van Gogh’s world, he just allows us to live in it.  I figured that 40 burpees would have been hell and people would have cursed and complained (obviously my goal), but on the contrary, the PAX were relieved because at least it wasn’t as difficult as when Van Gogh made them do 50.  I just can’t win.
  • I can’t wait for Landshark’s next Q.  He’s going to demonstrate the proper form for the European version of the elbow plank, which to the untrained observer appeared to be of the vertical variety.
  • Is sharing dirty, sweaty headbands a thing?
  • Can TMN and Huckleberry please provide wife negotiating classes for the rest of the PAX.  I have kids who are exponentially older than the most recent offspring of these two (both within the last few weeks), and I still have to beg to come to workouts.  These guys are regular attendees and they have newborns! Very impressive.
  • The Harris Teeter in Robinhood Village has a special end cap sale on Zima, according to TPE.  Get yours while supplies last (it’s seriously hard to type that sentence while belly laughing).
  • The City sorely needs to invest in baggers for their lawn tractors.  Doing workouts in 6 inches of grass clippings is getting a bit ridiculous.
  • There were a lot of RESPECTS there today.  I think I need some birth certificate checks.  I have a hard time believing you guys are 50+ and there is no f*#&ing way that Green Acres is a Double Respect.  He was busting out of his tank top today.
  • Some of the tree hugging PAX have been worried about all of the paper I have been using for the signs at my recent workouts.  Burlap, predictably, was concerned about the cost of the ink. Don’t worry, it all comes out of Wake Forest’s pocket. What else do you think that $60K+/year tuition goes to?  (Editor’s note: The very ironic part of me printing the signs on paper is that I am on a crusade to eliminate as much paper as possible at work. My co-workers give me quite confused stares when they see me actually standing at the printer, knowing that I could not possibly be printing out anything that even remotely has to do with my job.)
  • Landshark is taking naming requests for the 100 yard portion of the beatdown that we went through today.  If any of the creative types want to step up, by my guest.

Announcements:
  • Shmedfest is August 25.
  • Shmedlympics: 8:00 – 9:15 at the Fairgrounds with FiA.  2.0s welcome.
  • Wiseman event.  Tuesday night (8/21).  Plunger’s band is playing.
  • If you want to Google Shmedfest, there is still no “c” in Shmedfest.
  • Obstacle Course Racing Opportunities:
  • Lunch Bunch on Friday at Nick’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers.  See Goofy.  Carpool options.  Burlap prices.
  • Burlap has free Wyndam passes for today.  Free food, drink, and golf. Sounds like a great opportunity.  Oops, you already missed out. Sorry.
  • Burlap is giving away pee-wee football ticket for Friday night down in Charlotte (Burlap prices).  Even though the game is against the Patriots, you must suffer through watching that shitty Panthers team.  You know what? Don’t worry about it, these tickets are probably already spoken for as well. You can thank me later for not having to sit through a tiny cats game.
  • GoRuck happened today.  There was some confusion on the actual Dash PAX participating, but congratulations to all those who completed it.

Prayers:
  • Proehl.
  • Undertow’s dad’s bone marrow test.
  • Landshark’s youngest daughter going back to college.

Thanks for the keys, TR.  Missed you out there buddy.

Zima out.

Horrible, horrible workout. 40 burpees was the easy part! Great job Q and thank you for all the work that went into planning the hour of pain.

Leave it to Zima to plan something with some ridiculously high reps. And leave to the Pax to go ahead and do it.

Yes we were crazy for RIRO, and even YHC resisted making any twitter comments about “because the workout won’t be tough enough.” Appreciated the kind “hows that run in feeling!” Comments from the Q as he lapped me.
    Yep, pony is fast.

This insane beatdown made the RO dreadful. No energy whatsoever. Just brutal.

Nice looking beatdown, @Zima! #TClaps to the PAX for doing my it! At least we were doing sets of 50 in remembrance! Okay it didn’t have to imclude burpees, but I digress… You were just being mean here! Though I don’t think any of this is as mean as the itchy rash I’ve developed on my legs, stomach, arms and hands since getting covered in grass clippings at WIB!!

The combination of humidity, burpees and 6 inches of grass clippings was pretty horrible… but I did it to myself… I got to the AO a little early and saw the trademark tank top scampering around the field placing those damn cones… I still had time to make it to IS… Zima’s magnetic personality drew me in…. painful choice. T-claps to Zima and burlap who started over on the 10-100 counts while the rest of us finished our final lap
