Literally Bells and Whistles

What does YHC do on a quiet October night when the 2.0 is at the fair with his crew and the M is up the mountain dean-ing the Moutineers? Watch hockey and make a workout playlist. Hash-tag-on-brand.
A lovely 48 degrees greeted the pax. More than one was late, which we accept here. Glad you came. It went like this.
THE WARMUP
All the hits. Ok, cardboard out, speaker fired up, instructions given.
THE THANG
The playlist was curated around one theme: Bells and Whistles. PAX cycled through two main routines depending on what track came through the speaker. The jams either contained whistling, bells, or somehow referenced bells or… whistles. Not for nothing, but the first draft was over an hour and a half and had to be curated down. I will hold that at least 70% came from memory and a few were Gemini-assisted in finding.
Listen yourself here if you are an Apple Music guy.
- Ring My Bell, Anita Ward (the short version)
- La La Love You, Pixies (the song on the list that your Q loves the most. Excellent whistling.)
- For Whom The Bell Tolls, Metallica (throw the horns, ring the bell, get your Sphere tickets)
- Don’t Worry, Be Happy, Bobby McFarin (this was a major radio hit, y’all remember that? Wild.)
- Born To Run, The Boss. (Think those are bells? Chimes? Whatever.)
- Eye Know, De La Soul (sampled whistles, thanks Otis, your royality check is coming.)
- Hells Bells, AC/DC (seriously, it’s like the same song as ‘For Whom…’)
- Winds of Change, Scorpions (the whistling does not last long, but can you name a more prominent whistling-related glam rock song? Tear down that wall!)
- Michelle, The Beatles (a lesser-known rock band from the 60s, my belle.)
- Hold It, Now Hit It, Beastie Boys (this was most likely what they call the Whistle Synth, which was the style at the time.)

More favorites. The Beastie Boys short-circuited the Q’s brain, and he forgot what American Hammers were called. Anyway….

Announcements:
GreeNest next week, we think! Head Hunter continues his Q streak next week so be there.
Prayers:
Autobot’s family is growing; congrats and prayers for good plans as his next phase with family and deployment come together.
Great group of guys, and glad the goofy-ass music theme seemed to land. In an era of watching music on YouTube and TikTok, perhaps the long outro has had its moment. ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ really does drag on. AC/DC owes Metallica some inspo respect for bell-related heavy metal songs (a small but important subgenre).
Thanks for the keys, Bam. They are under the big bell.
