A Doozy

QIC: Burns

Date: 7.29.26

PAX: Turnover, BAM, Singing Cowboy, Woodpecker, Airbag, Transcript, Brittani, Autobot, Manscape, Starfish, Silver Fox, Burns

BAM voluntold me weeks ago that I would have the Q today, and then as a courteous site Q does he messaged me on Monday with the reminder. I put up the preblast with a reminder for the pre-ruck at 0445 which was attended by Singing Cowboy, Woodpecker, and BAM, and the pre-run at 0455 which Turnover read as 0504, apparently. So we set off for a shorter route and a breakneck speed, which must have been TO’s self-hatred for overserving himself on his fantasy football weekend. We got back in tandem with the ruckers, exchanged fist bumps and pleasantries, and greeted the other pax as they arrived. After bells were set in the customary circle, YHC pressed play on the playlist (IPC – IYKYK), greeted the gathered pax with the core principles and the mission statement, and got WoR kicked off.

WoR: SSH x10ic, Imperial Walkers x10ic, Whirlies (with a clap) x10ic, Abe Vigodas x6ic, Willie Mays Hays x10ic, Jack Reachers x10ic, and Michael Phelps x10ic. Elite WoR progression. Jog around the small loop.

The Thang: Today required a partner and a bit of an explanation. I had a weinke that had 5 pairs of exercises listed – this part was easy. Partner A does exercise 1 AMRAP, Partner B runs around the small loop, flapjack, repeato for exercise 2. Then once both partners have done both exercises + 2x run, mosey to the base of Old Pfafftown. Partner A does American Hammers AMRAP while Partner B sprints up the hill to the first light pole on the right (appx 75 yds) and back, then flapjack. After the hill sprint, mosey back to launch and go to exercise pair #2. Continue on down the weinke thusly until time.

  • Curls/Goblet Squats
  • OH Press/Lunges
  • Bent-over Row/Fast Feet
  • Skull Crushers/Reverse Lunges
  • KB Swings/OH Calf Raises

Mary: With 5 min to go we finished up with some abs. Low Flutter x15ic, Penguins x15ic, Heels to Heaven x15ic, Freddy Mercs x15ic, and a Thistle with 4, 3, 2, 1 merkins.

NMM: All pax got through the full weinke & final round, with the exeption of today’s Team Alpha – Turnover and Starfish were flying through the beatdown and got a sixth round in. I’m not even sure if Lace paired with another Lace would have kept up wit them. Transcript is working through some knee issues, but was a phenomenal partner who pushed himself and modified where needed. When Singing Cowboy noted that he “loved and hated” this format, I told him that I’m needing some hill work so I figured everyone else should do it with me. When we got to the final round, BAM complained that he can’t get his calves over he head anymore. The spirit of competition was high and there were some good races up the hill – most notably Airbag versus Singing Cowboy on a couple occasions. The Manscapian Refrain held true yet again today…real Gs move in silence like lasagna. Silver Fox and Woodpecker had a strong continuous conversation going about some woodworking tools, and both were simultaneously dominating the beatdown. Silver Fox also brought and doled out some delicious farmstand goodies to the pax who requested them. Brittani commented that he felt old this morning, but brother you’re out doing the damn thing – a one percenter, without a doubt!

CoT: We had a moment of silence for Gigolo, a Katy TX pax who lost his life over the weekend. Announcements included but weren’t limited to Transcript Q at Rural Assault Friday, Starfish Q at Urban Assault Friday, Autobot VQ at Launchpad Monday, and Q School at Hanes Park Saturday 8/8 at 0900. Starfish had the most excellent segue into his Q announcement #MidnightTrainGoingAnywhere. Prayers were lifted up for some family transitions in #CasaDeAutobot, for family challenges in #CasaDeTurnover, and for future surgery of #GallbladderDeSilverFox. YHC took us out lifting up these and more.

BAM, thanks for the keys. I tossed ’em in Wink’s bush. (Is that a thing?)
