Getting lucky at VI

QIC: BAM

Date: 01/24/2022

PAX: Sea-Man (WB), Schneider, Sour Mash, Starfish, The Singing Cowboy (a slightly unaware WD), BAM

Always a privilege to get asked to Q, especially at one of the oldest AO’s in all of Dashpax-land.  Yes, it does require a little extra drive for YHC, but well worth it.

In planning what would be appropriate for such an austere and grizzled bunch, YHC pulled out a fave set of exercises known at “The Lucky Horseshoe.”  This particular set of exercises included pull ups, so some texts to VI regulars about where those might be located and some google map searching provided the answers and a plan was hatched.

Of course, a quality playlist is always necessary to help pass the time.  Granted, YHC has never asked F3 Corporate what’s their take on how often or when tunes should be used, since it might reduce some of “the suck” that allegedly makes us stronger.  And then YHC remembered that I don’t care what they think, so it was time to start compiling!  It wound up being a fun, for the Q, mix of college era tunes and just classics.  It even had Burlap’s favorite included.

Pax assembled, tunes got started, so we did!

Playlist

  • More than a Feeling – Boston
  • All along the watchtower – Jimi
  • Get Lucky – Daft Punk
  • Something for You – Dillon Fence
  • The Heisman – Johnny Quest
  • Big Daddy Like Whiskey – Dash Rip Rock
  • Jane Says – Janes Addiction

NMM

  • Pax helped the Q figure out where the pull up bars were located, so had to modify planned lap to down on the track
  • No slippage happened on any ice/snow
  • Starfish enjoyed the Dillon Fence and Johnny Quest throwback
  • A solid guess of The Fabulous Thunderbirds was offered by TSC, to be told it was BB King
  • Dash Rip Rock was a personal fave party band of the Q (If you like drinking and mosh pits, you’d like them)
  • Sea-Man and Schneider charged hard all morning
  • YHC kept trying to run into the fence along the ball field
  • Starfish’s knee held up like the young buck that he is
  • Sour Mash’s glasses might have fogged up and doesn’t like it when his brother shines his headlamp in his eyes
  • Cowboy tried to forget his “recent” birthday, in October, that made him older that Starfish.  Starfish razor sharp mind caught the discrepancy when TSC said he was 53.
  • Starfish has a birthday tomorrow, but he will still be younger than TSC
  • Sea Man gave a hearty “Go Dawgs” to YHC, which was appreciated

Prayers

  • Schneider’s BIL
  • Parents – Starfish, Spam, Pony
  • Families – Giles & Jazzy

The Dillon Fence and the JQ definitely took me back to late 80s music geekiness. Although YHC was second oldest there, maybe he’ll never be too old for “Something For You” and “The Heisman”
