Ending 2021 with a BANG

QIC: Van Gogh

Date: 12/31/2021

PAX: Zima (late), Palin (loud), Post Hole (AOQ), Crash (HIM), Staph (Kotters), Toetag (WD), Lamb Chop (WB), Van Gogh (QIC)

YHC has not been able to post as frequent the past month due to a combination of travel and IT band issues… but Posthole asked YHC to Q on Tuesday as a “last resort” (which he confirmed this morning), and the call was gladly answered! A New Year’s Eve beatdown lends itself nicely to ending the year with a BANG, don’t you think? A quick look at the Lexicon for an acronym and voila! A CSAUP beatdown to do just that was born:

Warm-o-rama

  • Mission Statement / Core Principles
  • 5 burpees for @Zima’s tardiness (just repaying the favor he likes to dish out)
  • SSH x 21 IC
  • Abe Vigoda x 10 IC
  • Mosey to Coal Pit
  • IST x 21 IC

The Thang

  • B.A.N.G.:
    • Burpees x 21 OYO
    • American Hammers x 21 DC OYO
    • (k)Nerkins x 21 OYO
    • Gorilla Humpers x 21 OYO
  • Mosey to the following locations and BANG:
    • Coal Ash Pit
    • Bailey Park Stage
    • Wake Downtown Faculty lot
    • Long Branch Trail Radio Tower
    • Long Branch Trail 4th street entrance
    • End of Long Branch Trail
    • Intersection of Patterson at 6th Street
  • Return to launch

Mary

  • American Hammers x 3 OYO
  • (k)Nerkins x 3 OYO
  • Gorilla Humpers x 3 OYO

CoT

  • The PAX spoke of their favorite moments from 2021:
    • Bourbon Chase
    • Launch of Alcatraz
    • PAX reaching out and checking in
    • 2021 Challenge
  • Whatever the favorite moment was, YHC encouraged the PAX to keep at it next year, and find a new favorite moment. Be there for someone new, or someone coming back like Staph.
  • YHC Took us out lifting up PAX and giving thanks for the year that was 2021.

NMM

  • Overall we did 150 Burpees (+2), American Hammers, Knerkins, and Gorilla Humpers and traveled 1.75 miles between a series of classic UA stops that the AO has to offer. Turns out N and G exercises are in short supply as well… duly noted for the future!
  • Kotters were given from YHC to Staph, who returned to F3 last month after a 5 year absence! This was due to a work schedule conflict, which is no longer a problem! He did great, and it was inspirational to see that yes, you can always come back and fit right in!
  • Staph commented that he was able to work out extra during Covid and it showed, the dude was looking jacked!
  • Lots of complaints from Palin who seemingly has a strong distaste for YHC’s style of high rep, few exercise beatdowns… not sure why he keeps coming back, but I’m glad he does!
  • Box cutters and Box jumps were thrown out as modifications at one point… and a few rebellious PAX did them. But YHC would much rather see PAX modify than get hurt! Except for Zima… he gets no excuse.
  • Speaking of whom, he started out with Palin complaining, but ended up deterring YHC from offering options at ouru 6th stop. He even began to encourage other PAX! YHC overheard some discussion of how he ran a lot yesterday and would be running OGs later…. Strong work, Zima!
  • Toe Tag made an appearance because the pool next to his house was closed. Great to see him in the gloom, he’s still working crazy hours and posting whenever he can. Zima commented it was nice to see him in NC instead of Kentucky like at the Bourbon Chase.
  • Posthole admitted to the PAX that YHC was a last resort, and that he would be rethinking future Q opportunities… but YHC knows he really enjoyed it.
  • Crash knocked out his reps with great form. He would later admit to doing burpees until Zima was done, so YHC thinks he actually got more reps in than need be.
  • Lambchop got quiet at one point, and YHC was reminded of my last UA Q when Lambchop hurt his back… hopefully that was not the case here! Between the burpees and Gorilla Humpers, it was not a friendly beatdown for our war baby.
  • Music was provided for the PAX courtesy of the Apple Music “Rock & Reps” playlist on shuffle… the music was on point at times: “In the end”, “Song 2”, “End of the World as We Know It”… and quite terrible at others. Palin specifically noted this when My Chemical Romance played.

Thanks to all the guys who came out this morning to set a proper end to 2021! It’s been a long crazy year, and YHC is honored to have gone through it with the men of F3! Until next year,

VG

While I admit that I showed up after VG started the beatdown, my watch still showed 5:30 when I joined the circle. However, 5 Burpees were happily (and silently) completed as a “penalty”.
