7 PAX gathered at Reagan HS to help YHC celebrate his 15-year marriage anniversary (tomorrow, 10/4). Along the way, we learned some important lessons about life and marriage…

Warm-o-rama
Ok, everyone knows what this is – SSH, IST, OH claps, Seal claps, Whirlies all x15 IC (for 15 years of marriage)

The Nitty Gritty
The basic idea was to do 2 exercises, 15 reps each, 4 rounds (total of 8 sets, 60 reps each exercise). Then we run. And since marriage has it’s ups and downs, a little extra was thrown in along the way…

  1. KB swing + Squats; run to lamp post & back
  2. Curls + Skull crushers; run to lamp post & back
  3. x10 Burpees (because sometimes you’re up, and sometimes you’re down)
  4. OH Press + Merkins; run to lamp post & back (YHC had originally called R/L side raises; most of the PAX’s weights were too heavy for that, so this was an Omaha)
  5. R Lunges + L Lunges; run to lamp post & back
  6. R Bent over rows + L Bent over rows
  7. x20 IC Monkey Humpers (because there are good times in marriage, too)
  8. Run to lamp post & back (running at this point was a little difficult)
  9. Upright rows + Irkins

At this point, it was time for…

Mary
You all know what this is, too – LF, Penguin crunch, Rosalita x15 IC. And then LBC x30 IC in the hope that YHC makes it to 30 years of marriage.

YHC took us out.

Announcements & COT:

  • Prayers for Jack Bary and family (friend of @Cobra). Jack has bone cancer and had some very serious surgery this past Friday. Now facing 20 weeks of chemotherapy. Jack is 10-11 years old. He’s doing well. Please lift up Jack & his family.
  • Prayers for PAX from F3 Alpha (Atlanta) who passed away yesterday at a workout. Prayers for the PAX and that area and for the family of the deceased.
  • Prayers for Angel Batista & family, student at Reagon, diagnosed with leukemia.
  • @Burns has Q at #UrbanAssualt on Friday
  • Some lessons about life and marriage from today’s PAX:
    • Like a workout, marriage often looks a lot easier on paper than in real life…
    • When marriage gets hard and you feel like you want to quit, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Eventually, it will be time for Mary…
    • @Burns was heard to remark that he was unmarried and today’s workout was making him have 2nd thoughts about taking that step in his life. The intended lesson here is that many worthwhile things take a tremendous amount of effort…
    • Often time passes much more quickly than you realize, and you don’t get to do everything you’ve planned. Just stick to the important things and enjoy what you were able to do…
    • Sometimes what you intended turns out not to be in everyone’s best interest. That’s when you need to be flexible and “Omaha” when necessary…
    • It’s hard to run after you’ve been humpin’…
  • Everyone pushed hard and gave it their all today. Thanks for the keys, @Cobra!

Aye!

Burns might have said he’s been married for 6 months and hopes to make it to 15 years like the QIC. But selective-hearing probably helped the Q make it to 15 years.
This beatdown was a true snotwoggler! Holy smokes, just exhausting.
And let the record show that the Q made a correlation with monkey humpers and fun in marriage.

The real question posed was what was the running part of the workout representative of in a marriage, because the 15 reps for 15 years & 4 sets for the 4th makes perfect sense but running? There’s no running in marriage? Right?? The metaphor was lost on me and I was seeking clarification. All in jest, of course…great Q this am Fingers, I don’t know if I’ll make it to UA at this point!

We ran together, not separate. There’s the connection, cause I certainly have “run through life” together with my M, and thankful for it. Just like I’m thankful for you jabroni’s. (due to intense oxygen deprivation this morning, YHC was unable to formulate such a witty comment earlier)

Enjoyed reading Fingers’ lessons learned at the end of the BB but am confused as to whether F3 teaches lessons for relationships OR relationships teach you lessons about F3 workouts and pain. In any case, congrats to Fingers and his lovely M and to the pax who completed this one.

In order to develop male leadership through small-peer led workouts, YHC would lean towards the beatdowns are meant as small-scale opportunities for growth and leadership that can then be translated into the various part of our lives that truly “matter.” We maintain our 1st F to serve the big ball around us. Certainly life teaches us about real pain, perseverance, and joy that can help us push through our cute little workouts. But as we share and learn from each other’s journey and try out these skills when it’s dark, we will hopefully be better prepared for the real tests life throws at us. (and YHC knows you were just messing, just needed a 60 second diversion from work, so thanks!)
