19 PAX took it upon themselves to embrace a history lesson about Parliament while also getting crushed in a #Burpeefreeworkout.  There was certainly no shortage of MC this morning.  Plus, right as YHC was about to instigate the #GunpowderPlot part of the workout, a mysterious #007 drove a delivery truck right into YHC’s workout path and ruined the plot.

The thang went something like this:

Warm-O-Rama:

Parliament means “Meeting of Wise Men.”

  • 20 Side Straddle Hop
  • 10 Imperial Walkers
  • 10 Abe Vigodas
  • 10 Whirlys with the Clap
  • 12 Arm Circles
  • 12 Arm Circles Reverse
  • 15 Squats
  • Short Mosey (about 15 feet – just enough to provoke MC!)

Cromwell Station:

Oliver Cromwell had a reputation for being a fairly nasty brute!  He conquered Scotland and Ireland in the 17th Century.  Lots of animal-named exercises here because some described him as an “animal”!

  • Leap Frog from Middle of Parking Lot to Edge of Parking Lot
  • Guantanamo
  • Sumo (in honor of Cromwell’s travel around the world and to pay homage to Drama Queen)
  • Bear Crawl Back to the Middle of the Parking Lot
  • 20 Penguin Crunches
  • Crabwalk Back to the Edge of the Parking Lot

Two Houses

Parliament has two groups:  the House of Lords and the House of Commons.  Zima belongs to the later.

  • Wheelbarrow Walk Down the Side Parking Lot
    • Ab Station
      • Cross County Abs (105 LBCs total in four different position)
      • 20 Heels to Heaven
      • 15 Freddy Mercuries
    • Wheelbarrow Walk Back Down the Side Parking Lot
      • Ab Station
        • 15 Low Flutter Kicks
        • 60 Second Plank
    • Buddy Carry
      • Howling Monkies with 10 Reps/Person (#ExtremeCrowdPleaser)
    • Buddy Carry
      • 20 Jump Squats
      • 20 Jaunitas
      • Some other exercise (YHC was hypoxic and can’t remember)

Brick Area – “1265”

The PAX moseyed to the brick stash.  Parliament was constructed in the mid-13th century one brick at a time!

  • 20 Skull Crushers
  • 20 The Swimmer
  • 20 Curls for the Girls
  • Bear Crawl with Bricks
  • 20 American Hammers with Passing Bricks. Thankfully Pita had the insight to correct YHC and tell him that only every other PAX should have a brick for this passing exercise to work.

Gunpowder Plot

This failed attempt at blowing up Parliament occurred in 1605.  It was Omaha’d today thanks to #007, who pulled up in that delivery truck and saved the day for the PAX.

As hinted at earlier, the MC game was quite strong today.  For starters, YHC knew it was going to be tough to please the whole lot of 19 Whigs.

  • Starting out, an anonymous Whig vocally and begrudgingly did a 15 foot Mosey
  • Several Whigs let YHC know exactly what they thought of the workout. #WhatWasThatSmell
  • Pita saved the day by ensuring that the appropriate number of bricks were used in the Circle American Hammer exercise
  • Shingles is an absolute machine. He ran with YHC on the buddy carry at lightening-speed.  YHC thinks he and Rustbucket have similar bionic legs.
  • Zima appreciated being a member of the House of Commons today. He found it inspiring.
  • Drama Queen just beamed when YHC uttered the word, “Sumo.”

Thanks for the keys, Sgt. Schultz!  As always, it is a pleasure to serve.

This had to be a record number of PAX for #Parliament. Could not imagine planning this themed workout! Tclaps Mr. Culkin!

Excellent Hedwig. As a student of history, this beatdown was greatly appreciated. Looking forward to a Norman Conquest theme. 1066 reps of all exercises.

That was creative, effective and fun. Thanks Hedwig for serving that up for us.

Sure I’m always proud when anyone throws in something YHC introduced to the pax but especially proud when a pax young enough to be a son to many of pax in attendance can put together a solid beat down with a solid theme. The future is in good hands
