The Murphing Benjamin

QIC: Toe Tag

Date: 9/18/17

PAX: Rust Bucket (WD), Hedwig (WB), Juice Box, Resistor, Roosevelt, Lysol, Toto, Cheerio, Bueller, Glazer, Wiki, About Time, Cobra, Burlap

YHC is trying to taper in preparation for Table Rock this weekend and jumped at the chance to Q Run and Gun this week. It was hard to create a route launching from Hanes Park that did not include Forsyth or Manly Streets. So we took it to the other side of the park to launch from the Gym.

As the clock struck 0530 the Pax took off on the route

Start at Reynolds Gym on Northwest Blvd
Run to Reynolda Rd
Left on Reynolda Rd
Left on Buena Vista Rd
Left on Stratford Rd
Left on Warwick Rd
Continue on Runnymeade Rd
Continue on Hawthorne Rd
Left on Glade St
Left on Sunset Dr
Left on West End Blvd
Continue on Reynolda Rd
Left on Northwest Blvd
Finish back in front of the Gym
3.24 miles

Then Time for Tabata
Pull-ups
Low Flutter

Merkins
Squats

Dry Docks
Alternating Lunges

Irkins
Unders

NMM:
The Pax were a little disoriented launching from the other side of the park this am but they quickly realized why when we headed to the Pull Up bars to start the tabata.

There were no complaints about the change of venue or the different exercises introduced in the tabata session.

We were able to squeeze in two rounds of the last set and end right on time.

Bueller and About Time were really cranking out the Pull Ups. YHC was next to them and feeling pretty weak compared to their efforts, especially when About Time said, “don’t you do like a 100 of these a day?”.

To clarify, YHC is horrible at Pull Ups and that is why they should be in more of his workouts.

Patch needs to weigh in if Dry Docks count in the Benjamin.

Rust Bucket took a week off after BRR for a software update and came out blazing fast today. Pretty sure he said, “Come on Sissies” as he ran away from us.

Glazer, Toto and Cheerio had run in and were all flying this morning with Glazer passing YHC on Buena Vista without breaking a sweat.

Cobra had launched early to get in extra miles and joined us for the tabata.

It was discussed about what a fine wife Resistor would be.

The soundtrack for tabata was from Guardians of the Galaxy (YHC took the easy road for a playlist this am).

The bulk of the tabata was a good way to work the Murph in to a regular workout.

It was a great morning with a great group of men and an awesome way to start the day.

COT:
YHC took us out giving thanks for the opportunity and ability for each of us to be out here this am and to be the change that we want to see in the world. Also, prayers for Bill, a friend of Resistor and Lysol who was having a heart cath today, and for everyone in the world to have help facing their struggles.

Great route this am… the other side of “the park” is pretty cool too! Nice to run and catch up with Bueller? this am…BTW, is there anyone nicer than Bueller? Apologies to Resistor for not bringing back the reflective gear he loaned YHC #loanwithinterest

Funniest moment was during the Looking Glass song, “Brandy”, when RustBucket slightly altered the lyrics to “…but my life, my love and my lady is F3”.
