Rocks and Relays

QIC: Drama Queen

Date: 10/05/2026

PAX: Hugo, Starfish, Drama Queen

It had been a while since YHC had been to the Village and even longer since Qing.  Weather looked perfect and YHC figured a theme of some sort should be in order though the creativity was a little lacking.  More on that later.

Hugo pulled in right behind me and soon thereafter Starfish arrived but then there was a lull in the parking lot. We discussed the Bourbon Chasers would probably not make it so at the appointed hour we began with 3.

Warmorama – several standards, an oldie – Running with Scissors, and the DQ warmorama finale – Dry Dock Crabs.  We hung around the parking lot for some dynamic warmups in hopes of other pax like Spicoli or Ziffel but as for pax on this day three was the number thou shall count and the counting of the number shall be three.

We then journeyed to the rocks where the 10s and 5s came into play.

5 exercises – curls, overhead press, bus drivers, bent over rows, and skull crushers.  We did 10 reps in cadence of each and then decided we would repeato.

From there we carried rocks up to the corner of the soccer field.  YHC explained another meaning of 10-5 which in 10 code language means relay.  However, my plan for relay was relay races with more than 3 pax.  But a 3 man grinder is kinda like a relay and the plan was modified to fit.

That looked something like this (IIRC):

1st round – walk while holding rocks in front to spot about 30 yds away and then rockies. Pax at start squat with rock

2nd round – bear crawl with a roll at the end and then Freddie Mercs. Pax at start LBCs with rock

3rd round – broad jump burpees (omaha to broad jumps). Pax at start merkins

4th round – backwards run with Bonnie Blairs. Pax at start Tater sacks right

5th round – John Cusack and then spin with rock overhead. Pax at start Tater sacks left

Placed rocks back in convenient pile near soccer field and back to start for Mary.  We hit another collection of standards and just like that time was up.

  • Starfish showed his power by breaking a rock – tougher to do than a cinder block
  • Bus Drivers were a crowd pleaser
  • Relay plan proved to be fairly easily modified and pax picked up the plan quickly
  • Numbers were small but work was strong by all
  • Q fail for the Village Selfie but slack post seemed to satisfy the requirement
