So, after learning I had the Q this Thursday only a couple of days before, I was in scramble mode. What in the world could I come up with on such short notice?
As I mentioned before the beatdown this morning, with every Q opportunity I get, I aspire to be like Drama Queen, Pony Express and Ziggy Stardust one day when I grow up. These guys always bring a great physical beatdown along with a mental beatdown. You will leave their Q’s in pain but smarter.

So I did the usual “ This Day in History “ search for 08-27.
Some interesting things popped up: 1st Oil well drilled in US, Anglo-Zanzibar War ( only lasted 38-40 minutes ), Kellogg-Briand Pact, but another one caught my eye.
In 1883, The Krakatoa volcanic island in Indonesia erupted. The massive explosions and resulting tsunamis killed roughly 36k people. #RIP
A little morbid, but my mind instantly warped to the kids game \ song “ The Floor Is Lava “.

Let’s begin.

Warm-O-RAMA:

I arrived a few minutes early and to my surprise there were already a couple of cars in the lot.
I quickly drove to the back side of the AO where the blocks were waiting on me. I set them up at the starting line and put out 4 cones \ 4 corners.
Parked the truck….greeted the PAX….made jokes about going to Biscuitville. Enough of that, time to get to work.

Intos, Mission Statement, 5 \ CP….check.

Started off with —— drumroll
Abe Vagoda ( much to the PAX surprise )
Whirly w. Clap
SSH
Arm Swirlies F&B
Moroccan Nightclub

The THANG:

Moseyed to the back side of the parking lot where the Blocks, Cones, Phone, Weinke and Ghetto Blaster were waiting.

The PAX were given the scoop about “This Day in History”. Rudolph expressed his condolences for everyone lost.

The plan was pretty simple:

We had an uneven number ( 7 ), but we would split into 2 teams.
There were 4 corners, and the “floor was lava.” ( Because of TV magic, your feet couldn’t get burned by the lava, but the block could )

One lucky PAX would Rifle Carry the block around the 4 corners.
The other PAX waiting would do the exercises listed.
IF the PAX carrying the block dropped on their trip around, PAX were to run to where they stopped, run one full lap around the lot, come back to the drop point and the next PAX up would continue the remainder of the lap as well as complete their own full lap.
We would try to get through 4 laps. Simple, right?

ROUND 1 Exercises: ( 36x ) Jump Squats, Merkins, Flutter Kicks, LBC’s, SSH
ROUND 2 Exercises: ( 36x ) Air Squats, WMD Merkins, Rosalita’s, WWII’s, SSH
— After 2 cycles of completing each exercise, switch to next round.

And off we went.
At first, I’m pretty sure I heard some PAX say, “ Oh, this isn’t going to be that bad.” There was a lot of great mumble chatter while we breezed through the first cycle of Round 1. That sentiment didn’t last ! I’m not completely sure who dropped first while carrying the block, but I do remember saying “ If you drop the block, we get to run !?” Yes, YHC actually said those words. Let that sink in.

Once we got to Round 2, the situation was getting dire and more blocks started dropping. I think everyone wanted to run vs. having to do 72 WMD merkins. They were brutal! At least the playlist was amazing, right guys?

Time.

MARY:

Nada ! I think I heard one PAX mention “ hey, we’re getting low on time. Isn’t there going to be MARY? “ I said, “ we’re doing LBC’s and WWII’s…that’s Mary “.

COT:

Frostbites M going back to school.
Ziggy Stardust heading up to the Swamp ( DC ) for the next few months.
Prayers for kids going back to school \ YHC’s 2.0 started college this year.

YHC took us out in prayer with a focus on Galatians 6:2
“ Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

You guys were carrying each other this morning for sure.

NMM:

So many great guys this morning. Way to put in the work !

– I hadn’t seen Rudolph in a minute. Dude always brings it and leaves it on the asphalt. #Beastmode
– I also hadn’t seen Frostbite in a while. He and the Boyz are getting geared up for Bourbon Chase. Know they will crush it.
– DQ was “acting” like this beatdown was tough. He crushed it….as usual.
– Ziggy and I were not on the same team, but ended up on the same Rifle Carry rotation. Great conversations as always; wondering if we could sneak out and play golf this afternoon.
– Tonka was a silent assassin this morning. Carrying the block without breaking a sweat, picking up his brothers when they dropped. I did catch towards the end, “ Okay, how many WMD’s did you guys actually do? I was wondering how I was falling so far behind. “ Apparently he did them all. LOL.
– Blind Date, also a silent assassin. Breezing through this beatdown. He did say everyone got an extra point for using the Big Boy Blocks this morning.

When I mentioned the Bible verse this morning, someone asked which Bible verse mentioned the volcano, ya know…since it was “The Floor is Lava” beatdown. Without hesitation, DQ chimed in… Pretty sure that was from the Book of LAVA-iticus. # Gold !
