Four score and seven days ago (roughly), the stately site Q of Mayhem, Rollback, led a beatdown over by the pull up bars at Mayhem Elementary. YHC noticed how the parking lot included a colorful map of all 50 states. It was at this point that a manifest destiny descended on YHC and colonized all 13 brain cells set aside for future Q planning.

Thus began the work of founding a united states of exercises. Obviously the playlist quickly followed. Lots of songs about California and New York, not many about the rest. Coming up with 50 unique exercises took some time; they had to sometimes fit with the state (Alabama = Prom Date, North Carolina = Dry Dock) and correspond to the reps of the order the states became states (Hawaii 50 reps of pull ups would not be good). At first I was going to use a die to multiply the state order by, but after summing all the states up, it was 1,275 reps. That was probably enough but needed to challenge the PAX’s mind so a simple question of either the order of the state or year it became a state. Correct answer would be reps of the order number, incorrect would double it. Turns out the PAX may not know this crucial info about states, even their home state.

As the Q date approached, YHC sneakily asked PAX that regularly post at Mayhem what their home state was. None was the wiser, but one PAX was worried about an outstanding warrant. Luckily our F3 names provide the perfect cover and deniability. With this information, YHC was able to tell AI to create a cool US map and place some of the PAX names on it for the preblast. It was very nifty.

The Thang

It was at this point that Van Gogh guessed that we would be going over to Mayhem Elementary for a little geography lesson. Mosey over to aforementioned location.

YHC had each PAX pick a state and stand on it before explaining the beatdown. It’s always fun to see how the PAX shoot first before aiming. Many picked their home state. At this point, YHC stated the beatdown rules. Answer the question, do number of reps or double, move on to next state. Order below is listed alphabetically, which is easier to find for the Q.

There were some correct answers, but many wrong answers. We did many double reps. Some were unbalanced; North Dakota was picked which was L Leg Step UP and many PAX correctly said we should pick South Dakota, but no one did. We made it through the first 13 states, YHC didn’t pick, but had plenty of time left so everyone picked again. A number of PAX smartly picked easier states, like Alaska and Hawaii. This round we switched to wrong answers would be the state order number and correct would be half that. Lots of squats at the end. As Sweet Home Alabama came on, we finished the reps and headed home.

Crash is a big fan of Fifty Nifty United States, but others were not. YHC was always told that the song was by Ray Charles, which made sense to me since he had that Georgia song, but it’s not THAT Ray Charles.

Dr. Toot of course had to pick Alabama.

The Ohio bros have a very unique dialect and thought YHC said something completely different when he called out Dwight Howard for Georgia.

Lots of other mumble chatter, so I think everyone had fun.
