One Last Walk
Some workouts are remembered because of the number of burpees.
Some are remembered because of the miles.
Some are remembered because of the fellowship.
This one will be remembered not because it was the hardest workout of the Tour, but because it marked the end of another incredible summer spent with brothers.
Eighteen fine fellas showed up for what looked like a simple 30-minute walk.
Simple… but not easy.
Hours later, YHC can still feel it. Proof once again that the simplest workouts are often the hardest.
The Thang
Nineteen PAX grabbed a coupon and met in the center of the parking lot. YHC had one extra, making a total of twenty cinder blocks.
The instructions were simple.
Rifle carry the cinder block closest to you until you reach fatigue.
No changing the carry.
When you reach your limit, simply place the block on the ground and walk to the next closest block. Pick it up and keep moving.
This was a team event.
None of us could complete it on our own.
There was no prize for crossing the finish line first.
We all had to pick up the block of our brother when he reached his fatigue limit.
Just as importantly, we had to swallow our pride and allow another brother to carry our weight for a short season while we regrouped before getting back in the fight.
And don’t forget the six.
There is always one more block to carry.
Don’t forget to circle back for the block left sitting on the side of the road with no one carrying it.
The objective was simple: make it to the stoplight a half mile away, then turn around.
Only Tammy and Rubber Ducky reached the stoplight before the turnaround.
On the return trip, we switched to a farmer’s carry. Each PAX could choose which hand to use, but once the carry began there was no switching hands. When fatigue set in, the same rules applied: set your block down and find another one to carry.
Thirty-four minutes later, every block and every HIM returned safely to the parking lot.
Time.
The blocks were put away, and we gathered for COT.
Following the workout, we held a brief closing ceremony where Rollback officially passed the Tour de Draftee Championship Belt to our 2026 champion.
Congratulations to Pele’, our Year #2 Tour de Draftee Champion.
Moleskin
The Tour has never really been about collecting points.
It has always been about collecting mornings.
Twenty-two stops.
Countless conversations.
New friendships.
Three FNGs welcomed into the gloom.
And a whole lot of brothers choosing, again and again, to show up for one another.
Thank you to everyone who posted at any point during this year’s Tour. Whether you made one stop or chased the championship all summer long, you made Year #2 even better than Year #1.
A special thank you to Rollback for proudly carrying the championship belt this past year and graciously handing it off to its next caretaker.
And congratulations once again to Pele’, whose consistency, commitment, and presence throughout the Tour earned him the title of 2026 Tour de Draftee Champion.
Until next summer…
Aye!
