When Flatline Meets Redline

QIC: Burns

Date: 7.14.26

PAX: Frostbite (EC), Spicoli, Lamb Chop, Burns (EC)

Despite my limerick implying there would be some distance covered this morning, three others still showed up in the gloom to get their weekly dose of a high tempo beatdown. Frosty even joined me for the 2 mile EC trek, citing a need to start thinking about thinking about training for Bourbon Chase. 11 weeks.

Spicoli was on time early five minutes early (!!), so no Spicoli lap. He had pre-scheduled a text asking where we were going, and when he saw my response this morning reacted with an alarmed emoji and I think sped on over so he wouldn’t be playing an awful game of catch-up. No core principles or mission statement, either – sorry Frosty. We had things to do.

Mobile WoR – SSH (North end of the lot, just in case there was an 0531 straggler) Hillbillies (actual First Pres lot) Willie Mays Hays* (4th & Marshall) Michael Phelps (4th & Poplar)

Mobile Merkins – 10 OYO at each stop. Quanto Basta, Pleasant Provisions, Haircut Corner aka 4th & Burke.

The thang – “Intersections.” 7 stops down Grace Court/Clover St aka The Intimidator. Then 5 stops back up Brookstown. 10 of the called exercise OYO

  • Down: Merkins
  • Up: Squats
  • Down: Reverse Lunges (sc)
  • Up: Mike Tysons

Mobile Mary – 3 stops on the way home. American Hammers, Low Flutters, Mtn Climbers, then a plank for the six/for time at launch.

NMM – Strong strong strong work. Frosty’s watch had 3 miles. MMR says 2.97. You decide who’s right. On our way down The Intimidator the 2nd time we saw the Redliners coming out of the park and they invited us to run Carolina with them, but we had better plans. They wanted nothing to do with the Mike Tysons.

Total reps – 100 merkins, 50 squats, 70 lunges (35 each leg), 50 Mike Tysons. Not bad.

*Willie Mays Hays, the great and iconic Cleveland Indians center fielder** would lead off first base and comically stretch his adductors and hamstrings by quickly bouncing back and forth between side lunges. The WMH is a WoR exercise I picked up in Boone last week where you imitate the man by doing copperhead side squats in cadence – expect them at any of my future Qs. Right up there with Abe Vs.

**Major League is a top 3 baseball movie of all time. And it ain’t #3.

Announcements – GreeNest. Slowpitch has UA Friday. Silver Fox VQ tomorrow at BnW. Q School Aug 8th for all pax but especially our Project Cornerstone brothers, Hanes Park 0900.

CoT – lots of heavy things shared today, both positively and negatively so. Lift your brother up. YHC took us out.

Bootsie, you were missed. I chucked the keys into Hanes Park while we were down there, so I guess someone’s gonna have to go back and get them.

Turrible. Just turrible. Truly one for the books of arduous #Flatline workouts. Thank you for leading, Burns! Nothing quite like being in the review of 3 30 year olds dragging my a$$ all over downtown. Thank goodness you decided to do TWO loops down Clover and up Brookstown… FML
