The Thang

The morning began with a World’s Greatest Stretch, followed by additional hip mobility work that was unanimously well received by the PAX.

Then it was time for the Wheel of Misfortune.

Twelve predetermined exercises.

Twelve unique rep values.

The wheel determined the reps while the exercises remained in the following order:

  1. Merkins
  2. Squats
  3. Big Boys
  4. Lunges
  5. Carolina Dry Docks
  6. Mountain Climbers
  7. Monkey Humpers
  8. American Hammers
  9. Imperial Walkers
  10. Bobby Hurleys
  11. Shoulder Taps
  12. Burpees

Possible Rep Values

  • 10
  • 15
  • 20
  • 25
  • 30
  • 35
  • 40
  • 45
  • 50
  • 55
  • 60
  • 65

Each rep value was used exactly once and removed from the wheel after it was landed on.

With ten minutes still remaining, the PAX completed the workout exactly as planned.

The remaining time was spent working through a Ring of Fire, beginning back at the top of the exercise list until time was called.

The Story

The workout started with one important question from Dr. Toot.

“Was the wheel properly calibrated?”

A fair question.

Fortunately, the calibration process consisted of giving the wheel a good spin and hoping for the best.

As each number disappeared, the tension increased.

The remaining rep values became larger.

The remaining exercises became fewer.

By the final spin, only two possibilities remained.

Twenty-five.

Or…

Fifty.

Everyone knew the last exercise waiting at the bottom of the list was burpees.

The only question was how many.

The wheel showed no mercy.

Fifty burpees it was.

Some will call it bad luck.

Others will insist the wheel was rigged.

We’ll let you decide.

Tour Update

Welcome to the Tour, Burns.
