Happy Thanksday to all who participate

QIC: slowpitch

Date: 11.24.2025

PAX: blind date, ziggy stardust, zima, cruiser, tonka, van gogh, rubber ducky, drama queen (WD), adobe, zephyr, frostbite (WB), slowpitch

With this being my VQ, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know who would show up. I didn’t know if my workout would bring us to 45 minutes. Lots of unknowns. I am a planner, so I had this workout planned for a week or so and had a vision for how I wanted everything to go.

As I got to the AO early, I started setting up the stations and cars started pulling in shortly after. The nerves kicked in but I knew everything was going to be OK no matter how this morning went because these guys trust me in providing direction and leading them through a workout that will prepare them for a Thanksgiving feast.

5:30 hit, and we started.

Warmup:

Side straddle hops (of course), abe vigoda, whirley with a clap, arm swirley things forward, arm swirly things backwards, Michael phelps, and imperial storm troopers.

My cadence count may or may not have made some people confused for when to hault but we got through it.

The thang:

There were 5 stations set up, and each station had 3 different workouts. This was in fact a Thanksgiving and Birthday themed workout so 35 is the age I will be turning this week.

The goal was to complete all 3 exercises before moving to the next station. The round counts were:
Round 1 -11 (November)
Round 2 – 26 (My birthday date)
Round 3 – 35 (How old I will be turning)

  • Station 1 – Turkey
    • Air Squats
    • DC Lunges
    • Toe Taps on the curb
  • Backwards run over to Station 2 – Stuffing
    • Merkins
    • Carolina Dry Docks
    • SSH’s
  • Sprint to station 3 – Cranberry Sauce (does anyone actually like cranberry sauce?)
    • DC Mountain Climbers
    • DC Flutter Kicks
    • LBC’s
  • High Knees to station 4 – Gravy
    • Jump Squats
    • American Hammers
    • Diamond Merkins
  • Butt kickers to station 5 – Mac & Cheese (with coupons)
    • Shoulder Press
    • Curls
    • Triceps extensions
  • Sprint back to station 1.

Then the dessert came with a nice clearing Burp(ees) as a surprise to the PAX. All PAX crushed 12 burpees for dessert so everyone can have their own.

Finished off with some Mary by committee.

  • Ever wonder what the temperature is outside? Just take a look at our resident weather expert, Zima. No sleeves = it’s warm enough. Long sleeves = it’s cold. Today’s weather = it’s cold.
  • Was able to be in a group with Blind Date. You would never know he was injured. Moving quickly, moving swiftly and looking strong.
  • Ziggy stardust is a guy who just gets things done. No complaints, just work. Nothing seems to phase our guy.
  • Cruiser almost left me with a VQ present of a sweaty app state toboggan. Sounds like he needed to be followed to a gas station because he is riding on E. None other than Adobe helped him with that. You know you are getting strong teamwork when those 2 are around.
  • Tonka and Van Gogh. Two guys who make every workout look like a breeze. If anyone figures out how to make a tough Q for these guys, let me know.
  • Rubber Ducky was looking for water sports and when he realized that it’s cold outside and there was no water around, he decided to make this workout look too easy. Great work Ducky always great seeing you in the morning.
  • I don’t even know where to begin with Drama Queen and Zephyr. These guys ran many miles yesterday at muddy creek backyard ultra and still showed their support for YHC. Y’all are strong men who need a hot tub!
  • Oh, to be young again like Frostbite. My 1990 Billboard Top 100 playlist didn’t get the vote of confidence from Frostbite but he still worked hard and earned his Thanksgiving feast. Although I think he really enjoyed listening to Love Shack.

Thank y’all for letting me lead today.

Solid VQ, Slowpitch! Well executed and a beatdown for all! Nicely done.

Keep it on the DL, but yes, Love Shack, is one of my go to “doing the dishes” songs.
