Are You Ready For Some Football
QIC: Drama Queen
Date: 08/28/2025
PAX: Blind Date, Cruiser, Adobe, $5 Footlong, Wahoo, Tonka, Drama Queen
After a Q swap with Adobe last week, YHC realized this would be the Thursday of the big opening weekend of college football. Since we often roll around on the ground and do some exercises that are reminiscent of football practices from days gone by YHC had to go with that for a theme.
Upon arrival YHC was greeted by $5 Footlong and Blind Date. $5 had called out Frank and Beans to post so the tension was high to see if he would show. More on that later. Adobe and Cruiser rolled in and we noted their attempt to match attire with the theme – Adobe was in a Panthers shirt and Cruiser was in Ohio State colors but I think it was a Hurricanes tshirt. Wahoo pulled in about this time and we began with Warmorama. After a few exercises another car made the turn in the lot … no F&B it was Tonka. $5 showed some disappointment but we assured Tonka we were happy to have him.
WARMORAMA – the standards with of course Dry Dock Crabs to finish. Adobe is getting good or maybe it was just his morning to kick some butt. More on that later too.
We then moseyed to the football field behind the school. Pax got a quick history of The Distillery from OG YHC. Back in the day when we received nasty emails from Carla at the WSFCS Central office, Distillery pax often worked out on the football field and surrounding areas of the School centered AO. Not far from our new Church launch spot, it was the perfect spot for a little football work.
Started with some form running
- Hi Knees
- Butt Kickers
- Caraokes
- Apollo Creeds
- Swivel Hips
- DB Drills
Cones were quickly rearranged and we performed a routine from my February birthday beatdown – Jim Browns. We somewhat reenact Jim’s scene in the Dirty Dozen dropping grenades down the German castle vents. However, since Jim doesn’t make it, at each turn around pax performed 8 hand release merkins. Therefore 8 x 4 = 32. Voila – Jim’s jersey #.
Moseyed down to the blocking sled. Used the two man and each pair went twice for a 5 second push. Q begged off full speed on push #2. Thanks for the help Blind Date.
Next was one from the F3 Exicon that YHC had always wanted to throw in a workout. Johnny Roscoes. Named after a famous SC and NC HS football coach. Pax lined up across from Q – quick feet chopping and when Q calls down, hit the ground and roll in Qs roll direction. Hop back up and chop feet til down is called and repeato. This led to some confusion but pax quickly caught on and displayed some fine form.
Next was an adaptation of one of YHC’s fond fb practice memories. Instead of Bull in the Ring it became Booyah in the Ring – one man stayed in center of circle until all pax came in and joined him with 5 booyah merkins. Pax in circle did various leg exercises while waiting to enter the ring. Good call by YHC to Omaha here from original plan of 10 reps.
Just enough time for the big finish. Since YHC is known for the Sumo Drill there had to be a way to work it in. Another old fb practice drill was modified. The Oklahoma drill. Pax paired up roughly by size and then following Qs direction started on their backs and upon the call rose and met their opponent. First to push other out of zone ended the drill. #Crowd Pleaser.
We moseyed back to launch and had time for a 30 second or so plank. Scoreboard clock read 0:00.

Thanks to pax for putting up with some drills that for me were somewhere between fond memories and PTSD.
YHC was surprised that none of the pax had played fb past Pop Warner type teams. Believe with a little work and a few more players YHC could whip this bunch of misfits into a pretty decent team.
Good to have $5 out in WeFoCo even though his EH on Frank & Beans didn’t pan out
Final word on F&B was something about a car being trapped in. Hmm… make that part of the night before plan?
There were some strong pushes on the sled. Tonka and Blind Date were especially impressive. YHC reminded pax that 12 year olds are hitting this at Clemmons Bronco practice.
Sorry for the confusion on the Johnny Roscoes but that was fun for me and reminded me of jumping offside and having the whole team do Up downs.
Wahoo was waiting for some Beamer Ball punt block practice – maybe next time
Highlight of the day – got some chatter on Slack – was the backyard brawl matchup of Adobe vs Cruiser in Oklahoma. Adobe popped up like he’d been shot out of a cannon and met Cruiser with a full head of steam (or as full as it can get in 3 yards) It looked like a replay of Bo Jackson and Brian Bosworth on MNF.
