Redline: Norwegian 4×4

Date: 8.18.26

PAX: Buehler(?), Balco (RIRO), Winklevoss, Rollback, Hitman, Litterbox (kotters!), Interference, Greenspan

Warmarama:  Due to the track closure, mosey to Reynolds Auditorium via Hawthorne Road (Wink:  “He really did mean at the high school.”)

The Thang:

  • Norwegian 4×4: run for four minutes as hard as you can while maintaining your pace.  Then recovery for three minutes.  Repeat three times for four total rounds.

Coolarama:  Return to launch the same way we came.

Announcements:

  • None spoken.

Prayer Requests:

  • None spoken.

YHC prayed us out, thanking the Sky Q for the morning and praying that doing a hard physical thing in the morning would help us tackle physical, emotional, and spiritual problems throughout the day.

NMM:

  • YHC got interested in this workout while watching the winter Olympics earlier this year. The Norwegian cross country skiing team does this workout regularly in their training…but in the snow on skis.  They have among the highest measured VO2 Maxes in the world.
  • Litterbox met us at the entrance to the school, right on time! There was another runner resembling Walter White who was there at the same time, but that guy kept going.
  • Hitman keeps crushing it and is among the most consistent Redliners. I think he’s faster than he was when I met him 8 years ago.
  • Wink and YHC both left OGs this past Friday (and Redline today) a little woozy. The heat has just been brutal.  Wink had the encouraging line that, “it’s at least a month until we’ll see 60s for highs.”
  • YHC actually was so out of it on Friday after OGs that my shoes got left in the parking lot. They were not there 3 hours later when YHC stopped back by.  I pity the one who took those swamp buckets.
  • “What do you consider recovery?” asked Interference. Low zone 2, but not all the way down to zone 1.  So, that looked like 2.5 minutes of walking, 15 more seconds of walking, then 15 seconds of light jogging.
  • Rollback, recovering from a sinus infection, showed no signs of being slowed. He got tired of running counter-clockwise and started running clockwise around the auditorium, playing chicken with a couple of the pax.
  • Interference, Litterbox, and Buehler(?) led the way all morning and are ready to join the Norwegian team.
    • YHC yelled at Litterbox as he left me in the dust, “I was hoping that you’d be out of shape after not posting for 2 years.” If Litterbox responded, he was too far ahead for me to hear.
  • Multiple “well that was terrible” were heard. Which means, this workout is one to repeat in the future!
  • The loop around Reynolds auditorium has speedbumps, and the pax did not miss the opportunity to point out that a track does not have speed bumps. Yes, true, but a track does (sometimes) have hurdles!

Wooly Bugger, thanks for the keys.  Hope you get to feeling better.  We left the keys at Reynolds Auditorium.
