TRQ Minus Rocks
Date: 7.23.26
PAX: Argyle, Boomerang, Superfly, Rubber Ducky, Green Acres, Greenspan
There was rain at 0400 when YHC awoke, so the alarm was pushed back in lieu of getting up for the run club. As YHC was setting up, Rubber Ducky rolled in. Because it wasn’t raining at that point, he stayed in his vehicle. YHC took off on a quick run to College Park Baptist and back. On the return, the rain returned. In earnest.
We gathered under the breezeway, and YHC recited the mission & core principles.
Warmarama:
Typical: SSHs, Abe Vigodas, Whirlies, Stretchy Stretches, Asian Squat, Cherry Pies
The Thang:
We started off with MaBata: Five minutes of dive bombers. Well, not really. EMOM perform dive bombers x 10. For remainder of the minute, perform SSHs AMRAP.
Then moved on to regular Tabata. 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off. Exercises were:
- Mountain Climbers
- Pulse Lunge – Left Leg
- Pulse Lunge – Right Leg
- Crab Leg Jabs (Crab position, touch opposite toe)
- Wonder bras
- V-Ups
- Hand-Release Burpees
- Midwife Crunch
- ½ Burpee + Plank Jack (stay low, in / out + plank jack)
- Glute Bridges
- Nolan Ryans – Left-Arm
- Nolan Ryans – Right Arm
- Carolina Dry Docks
- Blairs (Squat + Bonnie Blair)
- Calf Raises
- Penguin Crunch
Repeato until told otherwise.
Mary:
- 0613: Blind Date’s Speed Date – 1 merkin, pause, 2 merkins, pause, 3 merkins, pause, continue escalating until you die.
The end.
Announcements:
- F3 softball is on Sunday. See Slowpitch or Zima.
- Drano has a 50k in the fall he invites all to join.
- Mentorship will begin next Monday at VI. Come for a 30-minute workout and 15 minutes of being mentored.
- Q School is August 8th at the Muthaship (Hanes Park). Time is 0800 with breakfast afterwards.
Prayer Requests:
- Aging parents.
- Schlitz’s M had surgery.
NMM:
- ½ Burpee + Plank Jack, Lt. Blairs, and Crab Leg Jabs required demonstrations.
- YHC had the great pleasure of spending the morning between Green Acres and Boomerang. YHC tried to incorporate some partner work with Boomerang on the Pulse Lunges, but he was having none of it.
- Boomerang also wanted to incorporate a little body worm at the top of the hand-release burpees. It was…interesting. Hope he does that move for his M.
- Superfly was the model for form. His crab toe touches were exemplary.
- Rubber Ducky, surprisingly, stayed under the shelter the entire time, but he played an important role in calling out the next exercise on the weinke for the group.
- Much discussion was had about vehicles. Boomerang has a new, fancy, hybrid Toyota that doesn’t help on gas mileage, but in other areas. He and Ducky went deep on the noises they make when backing up….their vehicles.
- Green Acres, with regards to the core exercises that required getting on the ground: “It takes me 10 seconds to get down there and 20 seconds to get back up!” Not true.
- Green Acres, after the Speed Date, commented, “I shouldn’t have been doing merkins as a substitute for other exercises during the rest of the workout. That is a good routine.”
- YHC finally figured out how to avoid Argyle’s ire: literally don’t leave the parking lot / launch point, i.e. travel as little as possible. Sadly and relatedly, we didn’t make it to the rock pile today.
Thanks for the keys, Green Acres. YHC tried to keep us dry but seemed like we ended up just as wet as if were out from under the shelter. Boomerang took them to try to start his SUV.

Green Acres
Thanks for wearing us out! Plenty of sweat got us just as drenched as a good rain. Thanks for leading! 👏
