Burns’s Toys

Date: 3.23.26

PAX: Britanni, Burns, Silver Fox, Transcript, Spicoli, Green Acres, Greenspan

Tonka reached out about trading Qs after sustaining an injury at Friday’s Western Front.  YHC happily obliged….and then remembered that Sunday was going to be a late night with a fantasy baseball draft, which Burns would also be participating in.  During said draft, Burns gave YHC an overview of all the new toys available at the Launchpad including slam balls, jump ropes, and heavy ropes.  Thus, once the draft concluded Sunday night, a loose plan had formulated in YHC’s head and a very soft committal for an 0500 EC run was spoken.

Then came 0436.  Burns texted within 30 seconds of YHC falling out of bed inquiring as to the status of that soft commit for EC.  “Negative.  Just got out of bed.”  Burns went back to bed too but pulled into the parking lot just in time to join the other six pax and unload his toys for us to use today.

The Thang:

YHC usually has a very concrete Q plan with clear directions for attending pax.  Not true today.  The loose plan from the night before had been, pleasantly, blown up by the arrival of six other pax this morning.  So, we just took turns rotating through different stations while one pax ran from the covered area to the tennis court and back.  Stations included:

  • Battle Rope Slams
  • Ball Slams / Thrusters
  • Supine Pullups
  • Jump Ropes
  • Dips
  • Step Ups

We each got the chance to complete the circuit 3 times.  Which left 5 minutes for Mary:

  • Heels to Heaven x 15 (IC)
  • Dive Bombers x 15 (IC)
  • Penguin Crunch x 15 (IC)
  • Glute Bridges x 15 (IC)
  • Hillbillies (IC until time)

Announcements:

  • Spicoli has Flat Line Q tomorrow. Go ahead and take the Spicoli lap in anticipation of his timely arrival.
  • Samaritan Ministries –Monday 4/20. We need volunteers.  Reach out to me or Drip.
  • Brittani has several free painting classes open to the public coming up soon.

Prayer Requests:

  • Praise for the return home of Transcript’s daughter; continued prayer for long-term understanding and solution.
  • Burns’s mother-in-law is finishing has a bone marrow transplant scheduled for Wednesday.
  • Rollback’s father has leukemia. It is one of the less aggressive forms, but still is a crappy diagnosis.
  • Silver Fox’s father has a follow up visit on a biopsy of his prostate.
  • D-Day’s mother was diagnosed with lung cancer last week and had a follow up last Thursday.

YHC took us out.

NMM:

  • Burns demonstrated proper battle rope technique including a pleasurable “thwack!” when the ropes hit the ground. First time YHC has used those.  They will give you a deep burn in the shoulders after only a short amount of time.
  • YHC initially thought that we would use the slam balls for thrusters, but Burns quickly helped YHC understand the work it takes to slam a ball into the ground.
  • YHC sucks at jumping rope. Yet, getting just a few revolutions of the rope will start to heighten the heart rate.  I wish I was better at these.
  • After having only seen his name on backblasts for several weeks, YHC has now had the pleasure to workout with Silver Fox twice in the past 5 days. He’s a great addition to our ranks.
  • Alas, another pax is fleeing hArdmore. Burns, Spicoli, and YHC conspired of ways to keep Schlitz in the neighborhood  Possibilities included parking Palin’s truck in his front yard, releasing skunks in his house, and just burning the house to the ground (hey, they can’t buy it if it’s not there, right?).
  • Green Acres put us all to shame, as usual, and walked up in his white tank. Those are two separate thoughts, though easily confused.
  • Brittani and Transcript carpooled in together and helped YHC organize his thoughts. It was great to see Transcript out and to celebrate his daughter’s return home.

Thanks for the keys, Burnsy.  Let’s run Wednesday.
