Rain and a Truck

QIC: Drama Queen

Date: 03/09/2024

PAX: Seaman, Ziggy Stardust, Adobe, Rubber Ducky, Keaggy, Draftee, Orange Apron (FNG), Drano, Madoff, Drama Queen

Much to Rubber Ducky’s delight the forecast for a day fit for ducks came true.  It was a day to test one of the core principles and also to invigorate some male community leadership.  4 pax had shown up early for the Murph, 2 of which left.  Drano had called a run instead of full bootcamp and had recruited Madoff to join him.  When all was said and done at 0700 we began with a group of 8.  This number would prove problematic for the Qs plan but more about that later.

We began with the core principles, the mission statement and a little disclaimer as Seaman had brought an FNG.  We even stayed out in the somewhat light drizzle for part of the warmorama.  Q decided we were getting wet and there was some cover mere feet away so we moved for a few more mostly arm warmups.

YHC then counted the number of pax at 8 which was one less than 9 which would have provided 3 groups of 3 for an easily executed 3 man grinder.  Instead we divided into 2 groups of 4 and there was a Q fail in the explanation of how to modify.  We still managed to exercise with some squats at one end and merkins at the other and some running in between the two stations by most.

Realizing this wasn’t working and we only had a few more minutes to kill until a large truck we had promised to help unload arrived at River Oaks, YHC gathered the pax back at the covered corner and we knocked out some lunges, standups and Mary.  We had then taken care of the promised 30 min beatdown and the lifting and pushing part of the workout would begin momentarily.

By then Drano and Madoff had joined and the 10 of us helped set up tables, unload and move bins, boxes and maneuver pallets into the gym/worship center of the church.  Later that day their volunteers would assemble thousands of food packets from this bulk shipment that would then go to Central America.  Our helping hands were greatly appreciated and it was great time with a little bit of all three Fs.

COT was held prior to the truck work.  Prayers for pax who are nursing injuries, Seaman’s upcoming knee surgery and those training for big runs in the coming weeks.

Rain did not deter a good crowd and while Q failed to explain grinder modification all seemed to get a sufficient amount of work in

FNG FKA Eric became Orange Apron after Seaman told us he worked at the big box hardware store that has lots of orange.  He said he had not done some of the exercises in 30+ years – join the club.  Also fun fact he is from Waynesville … no not that one.  Waynesville, Ohio.

Rubber Ducky had some strange infatuation with a hose near the corner.  #youllhavetoaskhim

First time (I think) YHC had met Keaggy – also learned the derivation of his F3 name – #f3improvesmyculturaliq

Seaman has posted and modified for the last several weeks nursing his knee. T claps for the effort and the EH of an FNG.

Ziggy joined me in the double respect club and cruised though the beatdown as always

Adobe brought the family back later Saturday for the assembly line.  HIM put in a full day

YHC looked at Draftee and said come with me during the grinder FUBAR.  Much as his name implies, he followed without question

Drano and Madoff showed up somewhere in the grinder mess and joined in for the exercises in the corner.

The really hard stuff came down during the truck work.  Glad we were mostly inside by that point

A mouse added to the excitement of the unloading. Not sure where he ended up.  Last I saw him, he headed back inside after hopping around the wet grass for a minute.  #cantblamehim

Always an honor
