Let Them Eat Cake

QIC: Subfloor

Date: 3/5/2024

PAX: Van Gogh, Bruin, Adobe, Huckleberry, Sgt Schultz, Sea-Man, Crash, Ziggy Stardust, 60 Minutes, Boomerang, Subfloor (QIC)

Adobe posted awhile back to fill the calendar at Parliament and YHC was slow to respond. When I did check, the only date that remained was March 5, 2024. Since that is YHC’s birthday, I thought I should take it. Surely I could come up with a theme for my own birthday. Something around turning 42.

Mission Statement / 5 Core Principles

  • SSHs 42x – This was a crowd pleaser, though we could have done burpees instead
  • Arm Swirly Things 10x
  • Things Swirly Arm 10x
  • Abe Vigoda 6x

The Thang

Mosey over to benches. YHC informed the PAX that he was born weighing 7 lbs. 7oz. So 7 reps of each exercise, 7 rounds.

  • Left leg step up
  • Irkin
  • Derkin
  • Leg pull in
  • Dip
  • Squatty potty
  • Right leg step up

Mosey over to parking lot where YHC had set up cones. 42 birthday ladder. Start with 5 burpees, then lunge walk to first cone, each cone 2 parking spaces apart. Complete 2 reps of each exercise, lunge walk back to start. Repeato except go to next cone with increasing amount of reps. 2 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 10 + 12 = 42

  • WW2
  • Squat
  • Jack Reachers
  • Monkey humpers
  • Plank jacks

When we finished, did 7 more burpees for a total of 42. Then went to the end to do 21 reps of each exercise. Return to start.

The playlist was inspired by YHC’s birth year, 1982. Sgt Schultz really like the Judas Priest song and especially liked the Rush one. Who knew he hated Canadians.

Since today was also a voting day, some other people arrived to the school after we started. We were joking about what they thought we must be doing. As they were staring at us at the benches, Van Gogh said he felt like a woman be stared at while exercising.

More cars started arriving in the parking lot, so Van Gogh thought it would be good to slide cones over since they were in the middle of the parking lot. YHC agreed and PAX did a terrible job of moving cones over 10 feet in a straight line. Also, no other cars came the rest of the time.

When we started the ladder, 60 Minutes mentioned that YHC and his mom shared the same birthday. Insert Sour Mash joke here.

Adobe asked on the Preblast if there would be cake as YHC mentioned it was his birthday. Since YHC’s son’s birthday party was on Sunday, he had cake left over and utilized the opportunity to get rid of the remaining cake. Some PAX wondered if it was appropriate to eat cake that early in the morning, others thought it was no worse than doughnuts.

Thanks to F3 and the Dash PAX for everything over the last 3 years. What a great way to start my birthday.
