Musical Rocks

QIC: Burns

Date: 2.1.24

PAX: Green Acres (WD), Tonka (WB), Ziggy Stardust, Frank and Beans, Goofy, Pony Express, Boomhauer, Drip, Burns

YHC hasn’t been to TRQ in a while, and I wanted to bring a beatdown worthy of my reputation that wouldn’t upset the regulars. I also needed to heed the 1st F Q’s 2024 challenge demanding squats for the month of February. A plan was formed, a playlist was created, and a hop and a skip and away we went.

WoR: SSH, IST, Whirlies x15 each. Stretchy Stretches. Arm-o-rama w/ seal claps, jack reachers, swirlies F & R. Slow mosey to the rock pile, pick one out in the medium-to-large range, and slow mosey back to the speaker stationed outside the cafeteria.

The thang: 10 songs in the playlist. For each song, a prescribed number of goblet squats followed by an excercise for the remaining length of the song. Because each song was longer than the last, the number of squats continued to rise.

The exercises:

  • 3 goblet squats, curls
  • 6 GS, lunges (w/or w/out the rock)
  • 9 GS, OH press
  • 12 GS, low flutter
  • 15 GS, bent over row
  • 18 GS, calf raises (w/or w/out the rock)
  • 21 GS, front raises
  • 24 GS, american hammer
  • 27 GS, chest press
  • 30 GS, lbcs

The playlist:

  • Rock’n’Roll High School – The Ramones
  • Rock, Salt and Nails – Waylon Jennings
  • Third Rock From the Sun – Joe Diffy
  • The Rock Show – Blink 182
  • Don’t Rock the Jukebox – Alan Jackson
  • I Wanna Rock – Twisted Sister
  • Rock the Casbah – The Clash
  • Rock w/You – Michael Jackson
  • Rock Your Body – Justin Timberlake
  • It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll) – AC/DC

No time for Mary.

NMM – The playlist played out of order, so what is written above isn’t actually the order in which the songs were played. It was close, though…I’m not sure why my Spotify betrayed me this morning, but it did. Great to meet Boomhauer, whose first post was just over a week ago and is already becoming a regular. Hadn’t seen Goofy in a minute, he was complimentary of the beatdown. Drip was complimentary of the speaker. Pony was complimentary of the playlist, thinking that @Starfish and I have similar musical acumen. Fat chance. That guy is encyclopedic. Most songs had about 1:30-2:00 remaining for the exercises, which is a long time to be doing anything…I had to skip the last minute of AC/DC because it came 8th instead of 10th.

Announcements – Pony doing Pony things at Purgatory Sat – you don’t wanna miss!

Prayer requests – Aging parents/family members.

YHC took us out. Thanks for the keys, Green Acres!
