#42 – Run It Back

Date: 10/17/22

PAX: Snake Eyes, Spicoli, Boomerang, Gretel, Greenspan

As usual for a Greenspan Q at VI, the weather wasn’t good.  However, it was better than the last trip which featured tropical humidity, monsoons, and sleet, all in a 45-minute period.  Others began arriving at 0526, and we made our way to the covered area for warmarama.

Warmarama:

SSHs, Cherry Pies (get those shoulders warm), Up/Down Dawg and other stretches.

Upon the call of “recovery”, we made the decision that the weather was “good enough” to leave the confines of the shelter.  We moved to the adjacent parking lot.

The Thang

Every Minute on the Minute:  Run 21 yards to opposite end of parking lot and back.  Upon return, work towards 42 reps of each exercise on the coupon.  Exercises were:

  • Jungle Boi Jump Squats
  • Cobra Crunch (DC)
  • Dive Bombers
  • Penguin Crunch (DC)
  • Bonnie Blairs (DC)
  • Low Flutters (DC)
  • Hand-Release Merkins
  • Burpees
  • SSHs
  • Monkey Humpers
  • Plank Jack + Shoulder Taps (DC)

Return to the shelter for the finale:

  • Dips x 42
  • WW2s x 42

Times Up.

Announcements & Prayer Requests:

None mentioned.

YHC took us out expressing thanks for physical health and the presence of other men with whom to run the race.

NMM:

  • The men were flying through the exercises….until we got to burpees. H-R merkins and Plank Jack + Shoulder Taps were others popular exercises.
  • The presence of orange cones and men running through parking lot did not deter two vehicles from parking in the middle of our course. Remarkable lack of awareness (or courtesy) among those individuals (or, to be more generous, poor visibility due to the weather conditions).
  • Lots of chatter from Snake Eyes and Spicoli. Imagine that.  Lots of stalling asking what the next exercise was until YHC moved the weinke to close proximity to the duo.
  • Gretel, on the other hand, was a silent workhorse, as was Boomerang.
  • YHC runs this workout once a year with minor modifications. None of the men present today had participated in previous iterations.  Almost 2 miles covered on the back & forths.
  • Thanks for coming guys. Have a good week.

Thanks for the opportunity, Seaman; hope you get to feeling better.  Keys were left under the shelter.
