Ring Around the Rusty Q

QIC: Sour Mash

Date: 05/11/2020

PAX: Sgt. Schultz, The Singing Cowboy, Boomerang, Drama Queen, Gucci, Harden, Spicoli, Starfish, Schneider, Sassy, Spam, Sour Mash

At 0529 we had quorum and were ready to get F3 Winston-Salem going again.  Then we saw someone on a bicycle at the top of the parking lot heading our way.  Son of a b!%ch!  That was going to put us at 11 PAX and the Spamtan was present.

We were socially distant enough in the parking lot to work through the Warm-O-Rama without ire from our leader, but YHC decided to split the group in two.  Fastholes to the lower track, Slowholes to the upper track.  The decision to split was a good idea because as us Slowholes were moseying, good ole Spicoli rolled in on #Spicoli/WhirlyTime.

The major Q fail was the plan YHC had.  It sounded good typed in digital format on my phone, but YHC didn’t flesh it out in my head enough.  YHC created something dubbed ‘Ring Around the Dora’.  The idea was to do the traditional DORA 1-2-3 exercises and adding a 4th exercise as the PAX ran around the track, socially distanced, stopping at each corner to do a set number of reps.  YHC misinformed the Fastholes to do 20 Merkins, 40 LBCs, 60 Squats and 80 Seal Claps at each corner and to do 5 laps.  The Slowholes were going to do the same then as we discussed it, YHC was like, “wait, this isn’t right”.  So we attempted 5 laps stopping at one corner to do the exercises.

The idea was four corners, four exercises, 5 laps to get to 100-200-300-400 reps total.  Had YHC divided the total number of reps by 20 (5 laps x 4 corners) it would have worked like this: 5 Merkins, 10 LBCs, 15 Squats and 20 Seal Claps at each corner x 5 laps equals 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 Squats and 400 Seal Claps.  I’m not throwing in the towel on this workout, it will be tweaked and re-used at a later dates until I get it right so no one better think of stealing my creation until I fix it!

At about 0605 the Slowholes had enough and we moseyed back to the parking lot for Mary.  YHC moseyed down to the lower track and called for the Fastholes to come up.  They looked exhausted and YHC apologized for the Q fail, but Tclaps to them for figuring out the rusty Q had messed up and continuing on with the beatdown as instructed.  I think they completed 2 laps.

We did Mary: American Hammers, Mutton Crunches (both sides) and Low Dolly.

Boomerang took us out

We all know that the best part of F3 is the 2nd F. As almost all Pax commented, it was nice just to talk to another guy. Seeing familiar faces, most with longer hair. For 45 minutes, there was a sense of normalcy, albeit at a safe distance. Truly missed this.
