COT:

  • The Outhouse will continue but change up its format slightly.  Spam has the Q this Monday, Jan 27, for the last of the current version.
  • Offsides kindly asks for Qs for February and March at #Purgatory.  Step up and lead.  Green Acres volunteered for two weeks from today.
  • Offsides daughter has ankle surgery scheduled for Feb 18.
  • Hoptoberfest is having (has had?) shoulder surgery.
  • Blue Steel is back from South America trip and hoping for a prosthesis soon.
  • Boomerang’s co-worker’s husband scheduled for back surgery.
  • YHC took us out with Prayer, and
  • Parkay gave this benediction (from Dick Halverson and Peter Barnes):
    • Wherever you go, God is sending you.  Wherever you are, God has put you there.  God has a purpose in being right where you are.  Christ, by the power of His Holy Spirit, wants to do something in and through you wherever you are and wherever you go.  Believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.  In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

NMM:

  • Happy Birthday to Starfish who was originally scheduled to Q today, but was out of town.
  • The Q varied the count during warmorama using 18, 14, 16, 15, etc., generating some MC.  In actuality, there was no purpose nor plan nor theme.  I simply stopped when I was done with that exercise.  Spam and BAM were the chief Pax in trying to determine the pattern, I believe.
  • At least one set of partners wisely modified the partner carry.
  • During the CHIEFS (a take-off on BLIMPS), all of the Pax but Green Acres abandoned YHC in the field and went to the basketball courts a good 30-40 yards away to do the exercises.
  • Green Acres had trouble spelling Chiefs, coming up with alternatives like CHEFS and then CHIES.
  • The pax did not know it but the next set of exercises are what I call the BOSA, celebrating the 49ers rookie who will be named MVP of SB LIV.  The first letters spell his last name, see?
  • During the football toss, we had some of each type of results.  YHC threw a nice tight spiral right into the center of the octagon, and the ball then promptly bounced out causing 15 burpees.  We had one other (Pony’s, I think) that did the same.  Others made it in, some missed it all.  There was debate about whether to use dominate arms, gloves, etc.
  • Parkay had never Qed before, though he had called some Mary exercises.  He wanted to try this some time, and was generally successful in beating down the pax with WWII sit-ups.  The numbers were from Mostert’s 224 yards and 4 TDs in the NFC championship game.
  • The 6 and 2 spelled Super Bowl (SB) and represented Jimmy Garrapolo’s 6 of 8 passing performance in that same game.  According to Pony, two is a reasonable number of burpees and allows the user to perform them with good form.
  • The number of reps for the next exercise, 54, is of course the number of the Super Bowl .
  • I believe the 50 seconds of wall sit and 50 rebound drills “honor” the number of years since KC was in a Super Bowl.
  • YHC forewarned Parkay that the Pax would come at him with MC and abuse, and so it was.  He hesitated with his first instructions as he was waiting for one of the pax to collect the balls from the football toss.  When the pax complained, Parkay said, “I was waiting for the balls to come in,” and Offsides and others quickly hit that softball out of the park.
  • According to one of the pax, he will be picking mulch out of his lower digestive system for while after the WWIIs in the playground.  Thanks for the image.
  • There was a lot of other MC, snarkiness, and general fun had by all, but I can’t remember things as well as Zima.

Thanks to Offsides for the keys.

And in seriousness, I deeply appreciate the way that all the Pax welcome and encourage Parkay (and me).  You all are a part of someone’s development and growth each and every day.  I am confident enough to bring Parkay to you guys each week, and I thank you for that.

Aye! Good times today and great job by Parkay! He covered well for his 1.0.
Good mix and very Pony-esque use of factoids!
