Relatively Flat BV for OGs and Tractors

QIC: Burlap

Date: 31 Jan 2020

PAX: Plunger, HOG (WB?), RedEye, Van Pelt, Sac, Thor, Shakes, Greenspan, Valdez, Peacemaker, Manscape (WD), Beverly, Boo Boo, Razzie, Interference, Chomper, Winklevoss, JuiceBox, The Vig, Zuckerberg, Turnover, Bevo, Walter White, Burlap

YHC promised low 30s temps.  I guess the number 30 is in the low 30s.  The Pax warmed up nicely winding up either Buena Vista Road or Robinhood/Greenbrier Road, and all enjoyed the downhill slide of Runnymede back to the Park.

COT

  • Lunch bunch at Mellow Mushroom before noon.
  • The Vig will Q OGs and Tractors next week, so get ready to complain to him.  Could be today’s routes in reverse — you call him lazy; I call him efficient.
  • Consider taking a meal to Sac and his newly expanded family.  See Valdez’s tweets with link to meal sign-ups.
  • Prayer for $5 Footlong’s father who is dealing with heart issues and has more treatments/visits in the weeks ahead.
  • Praise for successful foot surgery for JB’s M; prayers for the family as her mobility is limited and JB is handling some additional duties.  Don’t be surprised if his clothes are not pristine.
  • Greenspan’s Father.
  • H.O.G.’s son.
  • YHC took us out.

NMM

  • YHC set a route for each distance Tuesday night but didn’t like them.  Came up with better routes Wednesday afternoon including long stretches on straight, non-busy roads (Greenbrier, Oaklawn, Arbor, Forest, Reynolds/Warwick/Runnymede).
  • YHC occasionally dares the directionally-challenged Pax with a loop as I did today, but all OGs seemed to handle it OK.  The flatness cut down on complaining some.
  • There was an intentional head-on meeting of the OG and Tractor routes, ideally on Oaklawn.  One Tractor reporting seeing the OGs coming at him.  Also, the finishing stretch was intentionally matched, as usual.
  • The first Pax that I saw out on the route was Walter White who seemed to be taking a warm-up lap round the park.  The second was Thor running the route backwards.  I saw him at the bottom of Robinhood.  He was able to finish the route, join Walter White, run the route correctly, and the two of them caught me on Warwick.
  • HOG, Greenspan and Bevo (?) did a little extra mileage by not turning left on Pine Valley but going to the traffic circle (I presume) and turning back on Reynolds.  This allowed YHC the fun phenomenon of getting passed twice by the same dudes.  Beverly also reported some unintended improvisation of route.
  • Chomper went flying past YHC on a slight incline on Forest, leaving some pretty fast guys in the dust.  After the run, he reported that he has just recently started running faster than he has in years.  Good stuff.
  • The Q noticed some runners running on the right side of the road.  We were on a back street with little traffic, but I encourage all to get into a strict habit of running on the left if you are on the street itself.  Toto felt a chill down his spine somewhere in London with the thought that we were not being as safe as possible.
  • YHC went out on the OG route at 0509 by himself.  Was not passed until Forest and did not get passed by everyone, returning at about 0611.  That is the longest distance run by YHC in many months.
  • Butter, Mongoose, Cobra, and Lysol all were absent.  I missed running with Butter, but didn’t miss the rest of them, he types while trying to hide his bitterness and sadness.
  • Kotters to Plunger!
  • The Site Q was also absent.  Due either to (a) his overwhelming confidence in today’s Q’s abilities, or (b) his busyness in fundraising so Wake can buy out the basketball coach’s contract.  Probably (a).

Honor to lead.  I handed the keys to The Vig.  Good luck getting them back.
