Bricks or Treat

QIC: Greenspan

Date: 10/31/2019

PAX: Piedmont Plaza: Burns, Van Gogh, HOG
West End: $5 Footlong, Turnover, Full Upright Position, LazyBoy

After promising no tricks, YHC threw in a last-minute Omaha due to thunder and a rapidly approaching storm cell.  Result?  Two HalloWIBs instead of one!  Here’s what happened.

Warmarama (IC):

The four Piedmont Plaza pax quickly exited their vehicles moved quickly to the dryish confines of the deck.  Van Gogh and HOG carried an old recycling container full of bricks to the parking deck.  We then proceeded away from the entrance for a typical Greenspan full-body warmarama.  Then it was time for the highly publicized main event.

The Thang:

Three stations with weinkes at various points in the parking deck, three exercises, all with bricks, at each station:

  • Station 1 (Level 2): One-Armed merkins, One-Armed Brick Snatch, One-Legged Lateral Hops, all x 10
  • Station 2 (Level 2): Divebombers, Round the World Lunges, Bricks to Toes crunches, all x 10
  • Station 3 (Level -1): Hand-release Manmakers, Heel Tap Squats, Side-bends, all x 10
  • Each time we passed the main entrance on level 1, pax completed pull-ups on the I-beams x 5

Repeato as many times as possible.

Four minutes of Mary with Bricks (IC):

  • American bricks x 31
  • Dying cockroaches x 31

The End.

Announcements:

  • Spam and Splash’s 50th birthday party on 11/30 at Foothill Tasting Room.

Prayer Requests:

  • Blue Steel’s recovery.
  • HOG’s son suffering from migraines; wisdom for doctors providing diagnoses and treatment.
  • Burns’ M is pregnant with twins.

NMM:

  • YHC made a lot of noise on Twitter in anticipation of this workout and is disappointed that the two groups got separated. YHC was further disappointed that the Omaha did not turn out to be needed as no thunder or lightning was witnessed.  At least YHC has his next WIB partially planned already.  More importantly, though, is that both groups were safe and got in challenging workouts.
  • Group of four stayed together in the deck and had good 2nd F as well. We completed ~five circuits of the three stations, which seemed sufficient.  Mileage was ~1.75 miles.
  • Van Gogh held his two bricks with his feet while he did pull ups. He also made YHC feel very small when YHC suggested that a 35lb dumbbell would give a better stretch on the side-bends.  Queue VG: “Or a 70 pounder.”  Finally, VG was disappointed that holding the bricks behind his back wasn’t part of the one-armed merkins routine.
  • HOG got angry and broke one of the bricks with his bare hand. Get it?
  • Burns body slammed VG for suggesting that he (Burns) wouldn’t be able to pay attention to baseball with his twins’ arrival in the spring.
  • The parking deck, while not a torrent of water, was not exactly water tight. Drips and puddles abounded, and VG assessed that the deck had a short expected life.
  • We missed the West End four who looked like they put in some good hill intervals and may have exceeded the allotted workout time by 12 minutes! Strong work, brothers.
  • This seems to beg for a better system of communication among the DashPax. Any ideas?  *Ducks*

Happy Halloween and All Hallows Eve!  Stay safe!
