Speedtrap gets into first gear

QIC: Patch

Date: 9/16/19

PAX: Balco, Winklevoss, Zuckerberg, Mongoose, Bueller?, Beverly

7 Pax hit the ground running a Speedtrap First Gear hybrid to start off the week.  Temperatures were pleasant considering the 90 degree forecast for the day.

The Thang: We started with a warm up lap near a mile long by heading up Yorkshire, right on Pine Valley, left on Barnesdale, and back down Yorkshire to the start.

From there we channeled our inner First Gear and ran up Yorkshire to Barnsdale (about 0.4 mi) at a precisely called out 72.3% pace.  There was some debate that we were at a 74.1% pace, but that was clearly inaccurate.  At the top after an individual standing 5 count, we did 15 Merkins (instantly completing the daily requirement for this month’s #TheBenjaminInternational).  We moseyed  back down to the crosswalk at Shaffner and repeato.  We did 4 of these.  We then did an all out up Yorkshire to the Pine Valley stop.  Again 15 Merkins before heading back down for some Mary in the parking lot.

This was an admitted Q fail.  Nobody should ever lie down on the Shaffner lot.  We’ll be wearing gravel for days.  We cycled through some human protractor, American hammer, and touch-your-toes LBCs (Zuck called for that one and I can’t recall the official name.)  We finished with 25 Merkins to complete #TheBenjamin, because, yeah, YHC was the Q.

Mumblechatter:  On describing the plan for the day, Zuck, like a child on Christmas morning, exclaimed, “I knew it!  I just knew it!!!”  On our first climb up Yorkshire, I could hear Mongoose saying, “Patch, I’m elated with you.”  That seemed a bit fancy in language and more syllables than necessary while climbing the hill, but it was good to get positive feedback.

COT: Zuck’s dad has a medical procedure today.  Beverly submits the Boston application today and should know later this week whether his qualifying time punches his admission ticket.  Balco is hosting a viewing of the Georgia -Notre Dame game this Saturday.  Game is at 8.  Gather at 7.

Thanks for the opportunity to Q and for the #ISI!
