Purgatory Happened

QIC: Burns

Date: 6.29.2019

A bright sunny Saturday greeted the 11 pax who ventured to the Purgatory of Speas Elementary this morning. Burlap & Parkay showed up a little behind schedule because they were watching the Top 10 on Sportscenter, and astonishingly enough neither of Megan Rapinoe’s goals against France yesterday did not make the cut. Here are the clips if you missed the game: (clip 1) (clip 2) Fantastic team soccer in the second one. Anyways, the backblast must go on.

Pax: Burlap, Parkay (WB), Undertow, Green Acres (WD), Mongoose, The Vig, Drip, TPS, Bulldog, Zuckerburg, Burns \

WoR
SSH, IST, Arm Swirlies forward, Seal Claps, Arm Swirlies backward, Whirly’s continued venereal issue, Copperhead squat all x15 IC

The THANG
Mosey to pool deck
20 each of irkins, squats to the bench, dips, step ups each leg, all OYO
DORA – partner A does the exercise AMRAP, partner B does a lap around the pool parking lot
100 derkins
200 American hammers
300 peoples chair w/jack reachers

Mosey to rock pile behind Speas
PAX were instructed to pick a “medium-to-large” sized rock, which still led to a wide variety of rock sizes which made the next bit interesting
a) curls
b) OH press
c) bent over rows
d) skull crushers
That’s not a multiple choice question, those are the exercises we did with the rocks, all x10 IC in the following order:
a, squat, a, b, squat, a, b, c, squat, a, b, c, d, squat
After each exercise, PAX were to put the rocks down and move one space to the left. This made for some quick commentary about rock sizes chosen by different, but it’s not about the size of your rock just about how you use it, right? Right??

Mosey to track
Partner up, Partner A runs clockwise around the track, Partner B runs counterclockwise. When partners meet up, partner A does a high plank while holding partner B’s feet, who is doing 20 WWIIs. Then when partners meet on the other side, they flapjack. Every time PAX passed the playground, they were instructed to do 10 pullups which all did admirably.
After 4 laps, pax headed back to launch for popcorn mary which I arrived late to (slow/out of shape/dead tired) but there were definitely some low flutters and some mutton crunches at the end.

NMM
– Very impressed by the pax today. Not an easy workout (it looked easier on paper) and everyone crushed it.
– TPS & Green Acres, thank you for the partner work. Yall gave a good push and carried the load on the derkins & hammers
– Speaking of Green Acres, King RIRO said during the track portion that there was “a lot of running today” but still ran home. Beast.
-Mongoose and The Vig kept to themselves most of the day, probably because they are just way more in shape than the rest of us, but Mongoose did have a nice thing to say at the end of the beatdown which was that this was a “good workout for an f3 bootcamp” which still came across snide and biting but I don’t care, I’ll take what I can get out of the guy.
– Always good to post with Zuckerburg because he cruises through it all without complaining and somehow still has the energy to smile at the end of the day.
– Drip was a silent assassin this morning, and he’s moving faster and faster every time I see him.
– TClaps to Parkay, who came to an hour long beat down despite working landscaping later this afternoon in the heat. Some speculated it was just for the Chick Fil A afterwards
– Undertow seemed to get stronger as the day went on, crushing the pullups like they were nothing and encouraging YHC through mine.
– Bulldog & Burlap kept their heads down and grinded out through the heat/humidity and left it all out there this morning. They earned their afternoon naps for sure, awesome work.
– All in all this was a quiet bunch, and a good group who I don’t work out with too much but need to do so more often.

July 4th Convergence in ON at 0700 at Jamison Park next to the Mayhem AO. Myself, Van Gogh, and Turnover will be splitting Q duties and I promised this morning that it would be easier than what we had just went through together. Now I have to convince VG & Turnover of that…
2.0s encouraged, cold beverages will be available after the workout is through.

CoT
No prayers were requested, YHC took us out with thanksgiving

Spam, I am returning the keys to you with gratitude.

Burns’ rock probably tied for largest in area but it was dense, so it was heavier than the others. T-claps to whomever had to do skull crushers with that one. All enjoyed their turn at Parkay’s Rock, as he struggled thru others’ rocks and worked on his toothpick arms. Great partner work by Bulldog for Dora and Undertow for the laps. This was a tough one.
