RIP Dawg Pound

QIC: Mongoose

Date: 01/26/19

PAX: Starfish, Fingers, Light Brigade, Quiver, Zuckerberg, Red Eye, Butter, Phelps, The Vig, BAM!, Lysol, Whirly, Mongoose

It was a bittersweet day at Tanglewood this morning as 13 Pax gathered in the gloom to put down the not-enough-loved Dawg Pound.  While this was indeed the best AO in all of F3 Winston Salem, the Pax turnout was frequently meager, and Qs hard to obtain.  Was it the location?  The launch time?  The format?  I guess we’ll never know.  After much consideration and consternation, we had to put it down.

I had the privilege to lead the final workout here, so I took advantage and brought back and old “favorite” plan that would take us through much of the AO so we could say our teary-eyed goodbyes.  A not-quite-record attendance enjoyed the workout known as #DawgPoundGolf.

The idea is that we run from place to place, with 9 different “holes” where we performed exercises.  Total distance is ~4.5 miles to the clubhouse and back, so away we went at 0630.  Following the launch and some technical difficulties with the Qs watch (Q fail), we successfully completed the miles and all nine holes.  The MC was strong and sentimental, and the Pax really put in a solid effort today to show their respect.  I’ll spare you the details of the workout because it’s just too soon for me and I’m too emotional right now.  Just know that it was sufficient.

At the end, the father of Dawg Pound, #Starfish, took us out with grace befitting the moment.

Dawg Pound is dead.  Long live Dawg Pound.

I shared with Mongoose Tom Landry’s definition of leasership this morning: leadership is getting people to do what they don’t want to do in order to achieve what they want to achieve. Thanks Mongoose for making me run farther and harder than I wanted to this morning so that I can be better today than I was yesterday.

A healthy amt of MC was heard pre-Surlyone taking over as Q, several F-bombs dropped before the PAX made it out of the pkg lot! (YHC was responsible for at least 1)…BAM!’s p/u truck will never pass state emissions, however it may help mitigate mosquito problems this summer. Whirly and YHC were at least 10under par! Thx 2 Butter and his Hair for just being present this am…lots of hate this am at Coffeeteria on my boy #Cam YHC was the lone fan #WDE

The beauty of being a 40 year old truck is that emissions testing is not required! Although it is running extra rich these days, but carburetor is on order, so at least that problem will be fixed!
Thankful to try and keep up with the pax today! Sunrise over tangle wood is a pretty site indeed! Good stuff all around.

Sad to see DP go, but excited for whatever is next in #WeFoCo.

Seemed like even the (what seemed like scores of) deer were sending us off in style.

Great beatdown and 2nd F this morning.

    Aye!

Thanks for leading the final installment of #DawPound at Tanglewood, @Mongoose. As someone who has attended this AO a LOT over the course of it’s existence, it was nice while it lasted but I for one am glad for the change. Thanks to all of the Q’s who came out over this past year and for all the PAX who posted there. Au Revoir, Tanglewood. ‘Til we meet again…
