Well, it has rained (a lot) in the last 36 hours, but thankfully there was a break in the clouds on Saturday Morning.  The temperature was perfect.  YHC had not been to Hanes Park lately, so this was a nice excuse to take a tour of the highlights of Hanes Park.  Thanks to Fingers for asking for a substitute Q and to Palin for approving me as a substitute.

The Thang…

WARMUP (in parking lot)

  • SSH x 20
  • Squat x 15
  • running with scissors x 15 (to close the circle)
  • Merkin x 10
  • Arm circles x 10 x 2

Mosey to playground (tricked Burlap, who wanted to cross the bridge)

Quick Ab work

  • Russian Twist x 20
  • Low Flutter x 20

Move to steps in front of the Intimidator, 2x merkin on each step on the way up

Quick run up the Intimidator

  • run to first cross street
  • 5 burpees
  • run to top
  • 5 burpees
  • back to cross street
  • 5 burpees
  • back to bottom
  • 5 burpees

(Burlap lead the group in planks and such as the 6 finished the run)

Mosey back through playground are to far steps

Crawl Bear up the first set of steps

Mosey around the outside perimeter of the park, stop at bridge for squats and the 6

Mosey to stoplight for merkins while waiting on the 6

Mosey to “base of the hill” and partner up

3 rounds of sprints to top of the hill on Northwest (touch the fire plug)

  • Partner 1: arm circles, partner 2 run
  • partner 1: air press, partner 2 run
  • everyone run to top by fire plug

Grab some bench space at front of Reynolds Gym

  • dips x 10
  • durkins x 15
  • dips x 10

Down steps to the wall by the chin up bars

  • wall sit
  • Zuckerburg rebound drills
  • wall sit

Mosey around the corner to base of steps.   Bunny hop up all 6 sets of steps

Back down sidewalk to base.  Over/UNDER/THROUGH the railing all the way to top.

(at the request of Peperroni) Bear crawl up right to the top of the hill + 10 merkins

Mosey back down hill to the mini tennis courts with the backboards

  • Wall sit
  • bear crawl to far side
  • 5 jump squats
  • bear crawl back
  • 20 rebound drills
  • ling walk to far side
  • 5 jump squats
  • Lunge walk back
  • 20 donkey kicks

Mosey back to parking lot

  • LBC x 20
  • low dolly x 15
  • Mutton Crunch x 10 x 2
  • Bod cutter x 15
  • Shoulder taps x 20

Toto was extended a personal invitation to attend the festivities.  YHC almost scrapped the entire morning plan, in favor of running to Toto’s house and performing entire workout in his front yard.  next time…..

Great to have JT2 from Gastonia and his energetic band of 2.0s with him.  Pepperoni, XWing and Bob the builder (ages 8, 10 and 11) hung in there !!!  Also good to have JT2’s future brother-in-law, now known as C-PAP, join us.

Especially enjoyed JK2s horrible jokes during Wall sit time.   What do you call a Deer with no eyes? (I have no eye deer) (say it like gomer pyle)

YHC extends kudos to Butter, who almost allowed the rain to scare him off.   Always amusing to have butter’s commentary during a beatdown.   Butter, father to only girls, was super encouraging to the Gastonia 2.0s.   As was Root Canal who challenged them all to an arm-circle-thon

YHC especially enjoyed performing Mutton Crunches with Mutton present.   Never done that before.

Apologies to Ziggy – we knocked his heart monitor off at some point during the beatdown… looking forward to hearing what impact an F3 beatdown has on results

No Butter, we didn’t perform Bog O’s during Mary.   This is a kids show.

    YHC really enjoyed this workout. Good to be back at the original AO, IS. Enjoyed the one about the guy who showed up to the psychiatrist office wrapped only in clear cellophane.
