One Year Anniversary at The Distillery

QIC: Spicoli

Date: 3/1/2018

PAX: Sour Mash, Schneider, Drama Queen, Van Gogh (WB), Lite Brite (WD), RustBucket, Tucco, Spicoli

There was no escaping the rain for today’s workout, so YHC was pleasantly surprised to see at least 6 cars already in the parking lot upon arrival.  8 PAX gathered for the workout.

Apparently the #TeachersPet group decided to get in 3 miles pre-beatdown with Road Apple in attendance before having to jet off to points west for work.  As it turned out, Road Apple couldn’t get back into his car because apparently if his door gets wet, the buttons don’t work for keyless entry.  Many jokes were made at the expense of the Ford Motor Company…

Fortunately, cooler head’s prevailed, things were Googled, towels were applied correctly: Eureka!!!  Special thanks to Van Gogh for seeing our brother through his trying times and getting him on the road.

But I digress.  Here’s what we did.  In the Cotdang Rain, no less:

Warm-A-Rama:

SSH, IST, Squats, merkins, Peter parker, mountain climbers, Abe Vigodas all IC

Mosey around the building to smaller field:

Noah’s Ark (fitting given the climate)

  • Bear Crawl (20 yards), do Squats x 30 OYO
  • Crab Walk (20 yards), do LBCs x 30 OYO
  • Inch Worm (20 yards), do Merkins x30 OYO
  • Alligator Crawl (20 yards), do Overhead Claps x 30 OYO
  • Crawl Bear (20 yards), do  CCDs x 30 OYO

Mosey to concession stand, grab a block and hangout under the shelter:

Strength portion

  • Ladder exercises: start with 1 curl, 1 shoulder press, 1 tricep press. Increase each exercise by 1 up to 7
  • Bent over rows IC x20
  • Goblet Copperhead Squats IC x 20

Mosey to large Football Field: BOMBS Suicides

Burpee x 5
Over Head Claps x 10
Merkins x 15
Big Boi Sit Ups x20
Squats x 25

Run down and back to 25, 50, 75, 100 doing BOMBS in starting end zone.

Enough time to mosey to basketball court: MOM Free Throw Drills

Each PAX shoots from the free throw line.  If you miss, whole PAX does the called exercises.  I believe only Schneider and Tucco made their shots, so we did: Burpees x5 OYO, Merkins x10 IC, LBCs x20 IC, Low Flutter x20 IC, Penguin Crunch x 20 IC, Merkins x10 IC, Burpees x5 OYO

Donezo!

Announcements

  • Schneider has #BBBC tomorrow
  • Lite Brite is organizing a Gentlemen’s Event for Hedwig.  It’ll include all 3 F’s at Hanging Rock Park on March 24th.  Watch Twitter for details
  • T-claps to #SourMash for launching this AO and workout: that takes a lot to show such leadership and get a fledgling workout into a regular scheduled event.  It’s a reminder to support all similar workouts and efforts the best we can.

COT: Van Gogh described a situation where a fellow PAX is struggling due to the loss of his father in recent months.  He is trying to get him to come back out.  VG took us out with words of thanks for getting us out to workout in the rain, thanks for the community that we have, but also a reminder to get out there and invite others to join: new and existing members.  Our connectivity, purpose, and empathy for one another is essential to grow our community.

Moleskin

  • PAX lined up under the sparse covered walkway area.  We immediately left that area to warm up in the rain.  Queue the mumblechatter
  • During our Noah’s Ark expedition, a few groans when YHC called LBCs, with particular disgust from Tucco.  Something about worms.  This sparked a suggestion that Rustbucket lay on top of him, for 2-man LBC’s, to keep him dry.  Conversation further devolved from there…
  • Strong work by PAX.  We did a lot in the time provided.  Got into the shoulders on that Block Ladder drill.  Almost dropped the cinder block on my head a few times during the ladder drill.
  • YHC loved when Harden did the Free throw drill back in the Spring.  Appreciate the loan of the basketball by Wort.  All of us need practice…
  • Thanks again for allowing me to lead, especially on the 1 year anniversary of #TheDistillery!
