It had been a while since YHC helmed BNW — actually it had been several weeks since I had posted there.  But YHC found a BNW workout on my phone dated Aug 2017 — I honestly don’t remember Qing it.  In fact, I think I simply prepared it but never Qed it.  I couldn’t find it on the website because, well, we were still on the old site back in the summer or not on at all.  So, my assumption is that I would not be repeating anything, and IF it was a repeat, it was so long ago that I could get away with it.

So I printed it out and modified maybe two exercises and headed out.

Got there a little early (for me, 5:22 is early) but the gates were locked.  Three Inmar dudes and I made the long walk with bells from the tennis courts and got set up about 5:30 when the other dudes were pulling in, as the gates had been unlocked about 5:29.

Pax lined up at one end of the parking lot — the one where I actually remember Qing the Kevorkian last year — and were briefly disclaimed.  Here is the workout:

SSH IC
Mtn Climbers IC
Running with Scissors IC  — Rest of workout:  no rest, just switch exercises on Q’s call.
Run
Merkins – Squats with Bells – Peter Parker and repeat these trio
Run
KB Swings – Skull Crushers – Freddie Mercury and repeat these trio
Run
Plankjacks – Left arm curls – Parker Peter and repeat these trio

Run
Right Arm Curls – Nolan Ryan’s left arm – Greg Louganis with bells and repeat these trio
Run
OH Press – Nolan Ryan’s right arm – Upright rows and repeat these trio
Run
KB swings – Touchdown squats – Renegade rows alternate and repeat these trio
Run
American Hammer with bells – Clean jerk alternate hands – Low flutter and repeat these trio
Run
Mutton bridge alternate – Low dolley with bell – LBCs – WWII situps with bells and repeat all four

The FUNK was in a few of the songs that emanated from YHC’s Spotify feed.  My FREE feed, because YHC is too d@*>$d cheap to spring for the paid version.  Only two ads, and the second was at the end.  Because the songs were randomly chosen by Spotify from one of my playlists, I can’t completely verify all the songs, but I remember these:

  • Baby Love, by Mother’s Finest
  • Let’s Stay Together, by Al Green
  • Get Down on It, Kool and the Gang
  • Fat Bottomed Girls, by Queen
  • You Dropped a Bomb on Me, by the Gap Band
  • She’s a Bad Mama Jama, by Carl Carlton
  • Am I the Only One, by Dierks Bentley

YHC may have sung parts of each of these songs — see Tuco or TSC for verification.

NMM

  • Lace was out front on most of the runs, and not because he left early.  Zuck and Cobra were running nicely too, of course.
  • But the Man on the runs was Boomerang.  Not long ago, I could keep up with him, but lately — and especially today — I have not been able to.  Must be the trip to Africa.
  • Peeta was working hard all morning. as usual.
  • YHC didn’t hear much from Light Brigade and Landshark but saw them pushing hard and finishing well.
  • Poncho was also out front a lot and seemed to run easily even by the end of the workout.
  • Tuco spent part of the workout asking about the WFU tradition of rolling the quad after big victories.  (Insert joke here.)  He also celebrates winter Olympic athletes of all abilities and speeds, especially from warm weather Asian countries.
  • TSC worked next to me, and I believe he enjoyed the music — even the dance stuff from the 70s.  I didn’t hear him singing, but I think he was out of breath from trying to keep up with Boomerang.

Prayers for Lace’s grandmother (93) who has been in and out of hospital; LandShark’s father-in-law who is in hospice at the end of a good long life; those surviving school shootings; Pastor of Lace’s church is preaching at Stevens Center the evening of Tuesday, Mar 6, all welcome.   YHC took us out with thanksgiving.

Seriously, it’s an honor to be in the same parking lot as these guys, much more to lead you all occasionally.  Many thanks.

Solid Q, my brother! Fast-paced and hit on all muscle groups. And a commercial-free Spotify @Burlap Q just wouldn’t work. It doesn’t look good on you. Thanks for captaining the ship this AM. Solid work by all.
