A Fun Purgatory honoring a Terrible Day

QIC: Green Acres

Date: 9-12-2026

PAX: Superfly, uncle Fester, Boomerang Starfish, Lamb Chop, Linus, Argyle, D-Day, Lemming, PonyExpress, Hop, Bootsie (WB), Bluto, BAM, and YHC (Q, WD)

Sept 11 2001 was a terrible day but it did unite this country like we hadn’t been in years and haven’t been lately. YHC wanted to continue the remembrance of the occasion by simply focusing on the numbers associated with the day: 9, 11, 25 (years) and 4 (planes). We had a great group and pleasant temps, although a bit muggy. Fired up The Rising by Bruce Springsteen and we got to work. First some Warmarama with my usual but in sets of 9, 11, or 4:  SSH, Abe V, Whirlies, arm circles, Y-flies, Mike Phelps, and squats.
Then to the brick planter for 4 rounds of 9 derkins and 11 dips. Crossed the parking lot in front of Speas doing 25 squat jumps at each of the five islands, toy soldier walk in between. Then to pull-up bars for 4 rounds of 9 pull-ups and 11 WWII’s.
Then to baseball diamond to remember George Bush throwing out the first pitch in Game 3 of the World Series in 2001. We did 25 merkins at each base, then 25 LBC x 4, then 25 squats x 4, then the Q said we’ll do wheelbarrow with a partner “around the horn” but was met with derision and full mutiny. Oh well. I liked it. 🤷‍♂️Thanks for being a great partner Hop!  Most others did various means of transport around the bases. 😄

Then to a wall for a 2 minute wall sit. All this so far took less time than the Q planned, so Pony Express saved the day and said “let’s go to the rocks”, so we did. Two rounds of 25 OYO each:  curls, SC, bent rows, and OH press. Then back to start for Mary:  25 IC lo-flutter, penguin crunch, 11 IC lo-Dolly, and then the much beloved 3 Huck Merkins. The Benevolent Q only did a 9 count up and down, but was accused of counting slower by Boomerang and maybe others.  #peoplepleaser. #grumblechatter

Done!  And Bruce finished The Rising at the same time!
The Q wore himself out and all seemed to get a sufficient workout. The events of 9-11- changed the world and it is certainly worth a few days of remembering that history. YHC’s hip didn’t want to do the Climb to Remember but I’m very proud and impressed that F3 had a good turnout at that event! 🇺🇸👍🏻
Was good to hear a lot of mumblechatter but Bruce was playing and I was too far away and/or out of breath to hear particulars. This was a great group of HIM and it was a pleasure to lead. Thanks for the opportunity Pony!

Announcements:  Hop volunteered to Q next Saturday. GreeNest help needed that day too. Need help with dinner service at Samaritan on Monday the 21st. Oct 10th blood drive at Mt Tabor. Watch Slack for details on all.
Prayer offered for aging parents and family, peace in Gaza and Ukraine, flood victims in Nepal/China, wisdom to make good choices.
Pony, I slipped the keys into Hop’s pocket after COT.
Love you guys!
