Rain Didn’t Scrub our Launchpad

Date: 7-13-2026
PAX: Autobot (WB), Wobegon, Spicoli, Transcript, Burns, Kibbles (DR from Houston), Silver Fox, Green Acres (WD, Q)
Good weather for Rubber Ducks! YHC is old and crotchety and didn’t want to do LBC’s or anything like that in a steady rain this morning. It was a hastily constructed weinke anyway since the Q just came my way a couple days ago. So what to do under the wonderful picnic shelter? Ah, THE 300 came to mind. So we can blame BAM. Not sure if he invented the beatdown, but he introduced it to YHC. Yeah, that’s a great idea! Was a little worried about doing it with FNG, but was happy to see a good crowd of veterans, including Kibbles DR from Houston. (dude looks like a beast with quads that pop just standing there!).
We warmed up with the usual, then gave instruction that we were about to do 300 merkins, 300 squats, and (my variation) 150 LBC and 150 lo-flutter. There were some raised eyebrows but we got after it. This tough bunch was done in 30 minutes. (To be fair, BAM’s original calls for 300 WWII’s, which takes a little longer). So the surprised Q just started naming random exercises to do and we kept the huffing and puffing and sweating going until Wobegon thankfully called TIME! 🥵 I remember dips, Heels to Heaven, irkins, step ups, Mutton Crunch, more dips, split squats, and one last set of dips. Whew!
Was great to meet Autobot, and Kibbles from Houston. They enthusiastically smashed the workout. Burns and Transcript pumped out the reps and also enjoyed the music of my favorite storytellers John Prine and John Hiatt. Wobegon was his usual silent assassin self knocking out reps. Spicoli got there after WOR but got right to work and kept some good MC going, as did Silver Fox.
Was a pleasure to lead this simple but exhausting (for me at least!) beatdown. Great group of HIM.
Announcements: GreeNest this Saturday, dinner service at Samaritan one week from today.
Prayers were offered for Burns’ M’s family, Kibbles job change, Wobegon’s M’s traveling, Autobot getting waiver to be in Air National Guard (hope I got those right) and gratitude for the ability to get out and workout with great friends.
Thanks for the keys Burns! Had a blast.
