You’re Gonna Need a Bigger AO

Jaws, one of my favorite movies, is back in theaters and I got to take my 11-year old daughter last night. This made looking for a TRQ theme easy!

The Thang:

Bam, Wobegon, and I met early in the gloom for the famed TRQ Run Club. We saw Green Acres on the way out, who is a faithful member of the TRQRC week after week. More PAX than expected were already back at Speas when we returned, so I quickly grabbed my speaker and Jaws-shaped cardboard (design credits to my 9-year old daughter, who also helped design the preblast) and away we go!

Mosey to the flagpole for: dips, L leg step ups, dips, R leg step ups, dips, irkins/merkins OYO

Mosey to the rockpile. On the way, anytime anyone yelled “Shark!”, everyone dropped for 20 mountain climbers. We eventually found a rock and circled up by the lightpole.

I was a teacher for 15 years. I know how to work a crowd. I know how to give directions to a group of people who are only half (and that’s generous for high school students in a math class) paying attention. I felt like I clearly explained the rules of our game: Instead of “Duck Duck Goose”, we played “Shark, Shark, Bruce” (Bruce was the name of the mechanical shark in Jaws). We started strong, but after about the second round, we were doing lunge walks at the wrong time, forgetting to call exercises, and grabbing someone else’s rock. It was comically chaotic.

What rhymes with Jaws? Balls (to the wall)! Then we stopped at the playground for 75 (in honor of 1975, the year Jaws came out) merkin/pullups combination.

Mosey to the start for Mary and in between each called exercise, we did LBCs. We finished with a Superman/Banana, then time was called.

Naked Man Moleskin

• I don’t post with Lamb Chop much, so I was excited to see him at the circle when we started. However, before I really had a chance to even talk to him, he was gone, as he and Bam both had to leave early. Hope to catch up with you next time!
• Bam and Wobegon are my TRQRC accountability partners and I’m thankful for their push. Speaking of push, Wobegon kicked it into racing gear at the end and left me and Bam in the dust – strong work!
• DDay took the “Shark!” mosey literally. Meaning, at one point 4 people yelled “Shark!” at the same time, so DDay did 40 mountain climbers.
• Ziggy & Argyle had lots of comments during the final banana called exercise which are NSFW and cannot be repeated here
• Pony Express made the grievous error of selecting Green Acres during Shark, Shark, Bruce, which meant he then had to use GA’s rock. This is why no one else chose GA!
• Spamalot was visiting from Florida but just found a house near his old one and will be a permanent resident (again) of Winston very soon!
• Superfly, Tarzan, and Roundup quietly crushed all parts of the beatdown
• Green Acres, I told my 9-year old that you still have her “encouragement” picture on your fridge when I got home, and she BEAMED with pride
• I hope last night’ offensive explosion at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium was worth missing Jaws, Boomerang.
