In Memory of Sept 11 on the 10th
QIC: Green Acres
Date: Sept 10, 2026
PAX: Spamalot, Superfly, Hokey Pokey, Starfish (EC run), Lambchop (WB), Argyle, Mutton, Drip
With bag o’ music in hand, ready to play the perfect album for the occasion (Springsteen’s The Rising, verified by Spamalot), YHC strolled up to Speas on a beautiful Sept morning. Happy to see Drip and Lambchop, and soon joined by the rest of the pax. Starfish got in an EC 2 miles. Announced that since my hip didn’t want to Climb to Remember, we would commemorate Sept 11 today even though it is the 10th. Started Warmarama and soon joined by Argyle. The usual in sets of 9 or 11: SSH, Abe V, Whirlies, arm circles, chinooks, Y-flies, Mike Phelps, CH squats, and one more deep squat and hold for 20-30 seconds.
Stroll to parking lot in front of Speas. Did 25 merkins for the 25 years at each island (125 total) and lunge walked in between.
Then to pull-up bars. (Cobains to all Pax that attend my Q’s. You are correct that I have no imagination and only change the numbers for the occasion but repeat the same exercises. Please excuse. I’m no Starfish). We did 5 rounds of 9 pull-ups, 11 merkins, and 25 squats. YHC did the counting to encourage MC. 😄
Then to the rock pile. We took turns counting so MC could flourish. 25 reps each of curls, OH press, bent rows, SC, lo-flutter, chest presses, and Cardigans. Repeated the first four, then rocks back to pile. To the wall for 2 minute wall sit and 1 minute BTTW.
Back to flagpole for Mary (Bruce launched into Mary’s Place with perfect timing!): Mutton crunch, gas pumps, LBC, and of course, 3 Huck merkins 😄. Done
Spam approved of The Rising by Bruce Springsteen as the music choice today. We agreed that it is a great album, maybe the best of this century.
Superfly had requested no Huck merkins in reply to the preblast but,…couldn’t help it. Needed something to fill the last 45 seconds. 😅
Great to see Hokey Pokey getting after it. He really seems to enjoy our cult activities! 😄
Mutton and Lambchop put in some hard work (good looking pull-ups LC!) but had to leave a little early.
Argyle thought we started with an excessive amount of merkins but I don’t know why. He did them with no problem.
Starfish is a fasthole now! Who could have imagined that 2 years ago?! He crushed the beatdown as usual.
Drip just smiled and chatted his way through what YHC thought was a tough workout, again.
Just a great bunch of HIM. Was a pleasure to lead. Clear skies with lots of stars to start, and perfect temp. Really enjoyed starting the day like this.
