Talking Amongst Ourselves at Purgatory
QIC: Green Acres
Date: 3-7-26
PAX: Starfish , Burlap, Bulldog, Splash, Comrade, Lemming, Spamalot, Lamb Chop, Boomerang, PonyExpress and YHC
What a beautiful morning in DashPax land! No sleeves needed. Good crowd rolling in to Speas. John Hiatt singing from my bag o’ music. No FNG’s so we jumped right into Warmarama. Did the usual things and then strolled to the top of the hill between the school and the rec center. Inspired by a VG TIT Q, YHC wanted a plan with less counting and more chatter. We did a No Count Dora 3 x 3: Partnered up, stationary exercise was merkins, motion exercise was jog down hill then jog backwards uphill. No counting, just do merkins until partner returns. 3 rounds each. Then same format with squats and lunge walk, then lo flutter and walking Imperial walkers.
On to the Lido deck. Keeping to the less counting, more talking plan, we took turns counting the assigned exercise. Everyone did the exercise but was done when the “counter” finished the assigned number of reps. Then that man told a surprising fact or quick story about themselves afterward. YHC started things off with 40 derkins. Others could chat while I counted. Then I told that I spent 8 weeks hitchhiking around the country in the summer of ‘77. Then Lemming counted 20 LL step ups and told about being a wedding photographer back in his college days. Then Burlap counted 40 dips and told us about his trip to the ‘84 Olympics in L.A. and the events he attended. Then Comrade counted 20 RL step ups then had a scary story about skiing off a huge rock in 7 feet of snow. Starfish counted 40 Irkins then had a cool story about living in NYC for a couple years, and he and the actor Brian Dennehy became friends having kids the same age that played at the same park. Boomerang counted 40 LBC and his story involved illegal border crossing in Senegal Africa some years ago. Lambchop counted 40 merkins, then had a good story about foiling a pickpocket in Barcelona. Splash counted 40 lo flutter and related the he worked as an EMT in Brooklyn and saw some gross but kinda exciting stuff. We then did Howling Monkeys with each guy doing 10 monkey humpers going around the circle. Pony Express then told us about his first kiss, on a trip to Pisgah Inn on the BR Parkway at age 15. Her name was Cornelia. Spamalot counted 40 squats then his story was about seeing C Everett Koop at his graduation. Bulldog counted 20 WWII’s, then told us while working in a grocery store as a young guy, he saw a thief steal a purse from a shopping cart. He chased the thief down and got the purse back. One more round of 40 derkins and time to get back to Start for Mary. Freddie Merc’s, Mutton crunches, gas pumps, Huck merkins and plank until…Time!
Announcement is Marble Arch marathon coming up March 26. See preblast from Starfish. Prayers for peace in our world, job search for Andrew, aging parents and family members, ability to receive love and give it away, and for F3 friends. Was a pleasure to lead this group of HIM. Pony Express, the new site Q, used threat of YHC Q every other week with the usual Huck merkins to encourage Pax to sign up for Q at Purgatory with good success! 😅
Coffeteria was great! Thanks for the ride Splash! Until next time y’all! 💙
