Going back to school at Mayhem

PAX: Root Canal, Ink Spot (WD), The Pony Express, Crash, High Cotton, Earl Grey (WB), Drama Queen, BAM
As the fog was slowly lifting over Jamison Park, in the shadows of Meadolark Elementary, a fine assortment of pax assembled. We even had a brief sighting of Ziffel, until he realized one of the alleged 101 languages he speaks doesn’t help with his sense of direction. #heaintfromaroundhere After he darted off to find an easier workout, there was a fine group of 8 left standing.
For today’s theme, the Q came up with a simple and straightforward plan that would both celebrate fine cinema and the value of education. The exercise list on the F3 website is always a wonderful source of info and inspiration and today was no different.
So, tunes were cranked up, the warm-o-rama executed and we launched into the thang:
Billy Madison
- the plan is quite simple, there are 12 exercises, each one representing a school grade. In order to graduate from the grade, pax had to run a designated lap and complete the assigned exercise from the current grade, plus any exercises from previous grades, so to graduate you are doing all 12 exercises in a row
- All exercises were done to 12, double count for single extremity exercises (or where obvious)

- Squats
- Low Flutter
- Jack Reacher
- Calf Raises
- Peter Parker
- Merkin
- Side Lunge
- Imperial Walker
- Carolina Dry Dock
- Jump Squats
- Burpees
Time!
Congrats to High Cotton and Crash for graduating a little early, but YHC thinks they got to the burpee round even if they missed a lap
All other pax at least upper classmen in high school and are on a good trajectory to graduate sometime in the next few years.
NMM
- Earl Grey asked YHC if gloves would be needed for today’s workout. Unfortunately for him, unless it’s below freezing, YHC doesn’t wear gloves.
- Pony did share he has more sensitive hands and would be wearing gloves
- Since there was no bear crawling or crushing glass, gloves weren’t needed for pax unless they have the aforementioned sensitive skin
- The site Q was not present
- The Q demonstrated the proper lap the first time around, and the pax promptly ignored the last portion going forward. Earl Grey took pity and did the “full” lap after DQ said “Only BAM is running that part.” #leadership
- MC wasn’t very high this morning. Counting does tend to limit that
- Root Canal modified as necessary suffering from an undisclosed lower extremity injury. Conversation afterwards seemed to determine it may be age related. Ink Spot was unfamiliar with the concept of aging, so it had to be explained to him
- When the Harry Belafonte tune came on, some pax explained to younger pax who he is. DQ gave a very helpful reference saying it was a song from the recently released 1988 film Beetlejuice.
- Crash had on an interesting shirt this morning. It had a large dragon head on it and was in reference to some form of music that kids these days listen to. He said he can’t wear it in public and pax agreed 0530 did not count as out in public.
- High Cotton and Crash were out front, so the Q was unaware of what deep and insightful conversations they had.
- Ink Spot gave the ultimate compliment saying the workout was “Sufficient”

- DQ’s friend Alan, is now a double amputee and potential infection issues
- Blue Steel’s continued recovery
- Jazzy and Gile’s M’s for their continued breast cancer treatments
