Atlas Shrugged x 11

QIC: Van Gogh

Date: 02/11/2020

PAX: Road Apple (EC Only), Former FNG Loveboat (WB), Hedwig, Toe Tag, Turnover, H.O.G., Honey Badger, Tommy Boy, Mutton (WD), Van Gogh (QIC)

YHC has been asked by a few PAX when the atlas stone was going to be brought out and with a decent method to implement, it seemed circumstances were finally in place for it to happen. The date les to an easy format choice. The weather forecast led to an easy location choice… (it’s important to note YHCs Fo-Atlas stone was used, as a round concrete ball on slopes surfaces is not a good idea. ) Upon arrival, YHC opted to park in the parking deck to prevent having to carry the stone across the street in the rain and up 2 flights of stairs… three rest of the morning went s little like this:

Warm-o-rama

  • Mosey to each corner and perform
  • SSH x 11 IC
  • IST x 11 IC
  • Copperhead Squats x 11 IC
  • Whirly w/Clap x 11 IC
  • Mosey to 7-8 Level of Parking Deck

The Thang

  • ENTIRE TIME, PAX take turns carrying 80lb Atlas Stone (or 50lb sandbag for PAX under 160lbs or w/back issues):

    • Carry stone / Run up length of deck between sets
    • 55 reps each
  • Atlas Crawled

Fin!

CoT

  • Prayers for The Tags M’s mom and family that are still reeling with the loss of her father, and how to best care for her mom.
  • Prayers for Honey Badger who are still feeling the emotional impact of the adoption process from last week. Prayers for the birth mother who opted to keep the baby and that the baby grow in a loving environment.
  • YHC took us out asking that we know and trust Gods will, and lifted up prayer requests.

NMM

  •  #TClaps to all the EC runners who got between 3 and and 3.5 miles in.
  • Right around 2 miles covered today, mostly in the parking garage.
  • Great to see Hedwig and Toe Tag back out! It’s been about a year since shouted at a bootcamp (though we have run together in that time).
  • Loveboat ran EC and survived the beatdown! He gets his name from a suggestion from Hedwig and TT based on his love of cruises. It was quite possibly the fastest naming YHC had witnessed.
  • The site Q sent his regards before 0530 for missing, due to potential foot injury… no worries brother! Way to play it smart and safe!
  • YHC had been promising to bring the stone for weeks now… Palin might normally have been sad to miss it since he kept asking in particular, but he is off enjoying his new 2.0!
  • The PAX were hesitant to start the first round of 11s… like ”did he just say two kinds of burpees?”
  • YHC tried to be considerate with a light option, and most PAX that qualified  still pushed and opted for the 80lber. Tip: when carrying stone, walk tall and keep core tight to offload pressure from back!
  • HOG actively stated he was waiting to carry the stone UP the ramp because he wanted the challenge.
  • Great to see Honey Badger and Tommy Boy roll in together. YHC EHed the TB at ROCC on Sunday, and he put in great work today – hope to keep seeing him regularly!
  • Honey Badger made quick work of the 80lb stone and might be interested in the OCR YHC ran while carrying one 1.5 miles… He said, “Oh Jeeze,” which is a good sign of interest, right?
  • Turnover seemingly has no ability to slow down. The dude is simply a beast, having done two EC runs in a row and still destroying both beatdowns. YHC has a very bad feeling about his WIB Q on Thursday…
  • Hedwig was hanging with our FNG quite literally, doing extra pull ups and hangs with the 6. YHC did notice his Bear crawl was as fast as ever for one round, but slowed for all the others……. Must be  getting old, Hedwig!
  • Toe Tag, after dealing with shoulder and knee issues is on the road to recovery. Clearly his back is in good health as he hauled the 80lb stone around with ease. He also wisely modified the bear crawl to perfect form  lunges.
  • Our War Daddy, Mutton, was quite the champion this morning, only responding with “Good I’m on 10” for our last round of 11s. He also made quick work of the sand bag. #Respect #TClaps
