Staying warm at Flatline

QIC: Lawnboy

Date: 21Jan2020

PAX: Zima, Van Gogh, Drip, Mutton (WD), Honey Badger (WB), Lawnboy (QIC)

It was a cold start to the day with windchill taking the temperature into the teens.  Therefore, it was important to start on time and we did.  Note that Honey Badger was warm from a 1-mile EC run in.  YHC read the mission of F3 and the five tenants from his weinke since it is not memorized… yet.  Then, YHC proceeded to stumble through the disclaimer – at which point, Zima interjected that this had already been covered well enough.  Thanks for the reminder that everyone was cold and that was enough talking!

The Thang:

Side straddle hop: in cadence, 20 repetitions

Mosey to the corner of 1st Street and Cherry to a little hideout parking lot Van Gogh discovered and used in a previous Flatline.

Wall sit for two minutes.

Mosey one block to Liberty and 1st – 11 monkey humpers on your own – right in front of a busload of people – nice!

Mosey one block to Main and 1st – 11 mountain climbers on your own

Mosey one block to Church and 1st – 11 WWI situps on your own

Mosey the wrong way up Church Street toward a parking garage for 3-man grinders… parking garage was closed… time to Omaha

Mosey to a clump of trees adjacent to the parking lot on 2nd Street between Main and Church – squat “party” for one minute… not a very fun party

Mosey in search of an alternate parking garage suggested by Van Gogh; Mutton got us in the garage off 2nd Street between Cherry and Town Run Lane

3-man grinders: 300 merkins with no count squats then 200 double leg lunges with no count plank jacks

Mosey back to start

Teams of two for shuttle runs; one team started on #13 and went in search of every odd numbered parking space; other two teams started on #12 and went in search of every even numbered parking space; one burpee at each stop and then back to partner who was holding plank; alternate partners; total of nine shuttle runs/burpees

Mosey around the block back to start

Mary:  20 in-cadence American hammers; toss to Drip who led us through the big-O (YHC lost count… it seemed like a lot of O); toss to Mutton who led us through 15 in-cadence Mutton crunches on each side; toss to Honey Badger who led us through 15 WWII sit-ups

Finish

NMM:

Zima: are we going to do anything else besides sit here this morning?  Heard during the first wall sit – which might have been too soon and the PAX were still cold.

Drip:  what’s with the 11s?  No good explanation from YHC… other than Drip executed 11s the right way at Urban Assault the previous Friday and YHC planned these at Winston Square Park (but we ran out of time).

Unknown PAX – probably multiples as we ran the wrong way up Church Street near construction, do you actually know where you are going?

Van Gogh: when YHC found the garage gated, there’s a garage right near where we started, you know…

Collective groan from the PAX when double leg vs. single leg lunges were announced during 3-man grinders; Van Gogh: that’s going to take a lot longer…

During the shuttle run/burpee combo: Zima: you know I’m bad with math, right?; this number scheme makes no sense!

Announcements:

Mayhem is moving to Jamison Park and Zima has the Q tomorrow

All PAX are invited to gather at Radar Brewing on Thursday, 23Jan20 for a farewell to YHC before he moves to Norfolk, VA on Friday.

Prayer requests:

For Van Gogh’s daughter who had four teeth removed yesterday.  For Mutton to have safe travels as he heads to Seattle for work this week.  For the homeless to find shelter in this cold weather.  YHC noted that Alex Hudson’s work at First Presbyterian was much appreciated by several last night to stay out of the cold.

Closing thoughts:

YHC ran out of time due to double leg lunges taking far longer than expected and had to skip 11s of Lt. Dangers paired with LBCs at Winston Square Park.  Always better to have too much content than too little.

It was my honor to substitute Q for Whirly; thanks for giving me one more opportunity to lead the PAX.

YHC has enjoyed the camaraderie of this group of HIM immensely.  Thanks for making me a better man.

Great Flatline VQ, Lawnboy! Though I was a little disappointed by the lack of pull-ups, I thought it wise to avoid requesting them out of fear another grinder would be called asking for 300 reps or something crazy. Being afraid is a good sign…
