5 Years of F3

The Thang:

YHC unknowingly signed up to Q Redline on the 5 year anniversary of my first morning out at F3. That first workout – Redline. #Fate.  So this workout was designed to relive some of the 5 years of memories and honor a few who have lead YHC along the way.

Eight Pax jumped out of bed eager to get their Tuesday started.  To start off, we ran a loop around Hanes Park. We took one wrong turn around the parking lot as a shout out to Cheerio.  He was the lone F3 guy to stay late for me on my second F3 workout at OGs where I got seriously lost.

After the warm up, we headed to the track and ran a 400 meter and paired up by fastest and slowest for the next segment. I botched the original plan and had us make two teams of four, but it worked out. We ran a 200 and then did Merkins while waiting for our partner to run his 200. This part was to honor Bam who ambitiously set a goal of, I think, 20 200s mixed with Merkins 5 years ago to the date. I recall Closer giving me the most sage advice after the first lap, “pace yourself on this.”  Not sure how many were done 5 years ago, but it was not 20.  This morning’s crew did 3 or 4 200s and hopefully completed most of #TheBenjamin along the way.

Next we moseyed to the base of Brookstown where I explained we would be honoring Mongoose, my team captain one year, in celebrating several years and teams of F3 guys running the BRR.  I explained we would be running up Pilot View, turn right on Summit, right on 4th, then right on Clover, then right on West End.  So “honoring” Mongoose on this run was mostly a deflection so that any anger would be directed at him.  Don’t we all start the morning telling ourselves, “Man, I hope this morning’s Q has us run up Pilot View… TWICE!”

Sadly, I did not plan enough time for us to complete the 5 burpees that were designed to honor Spam and Splash who are able to get me out to Mayhem.  I’ve now been once a year for the past 5 years.

COT:
Sac’s M’s grandmother passed away, Peacemaker’s M rang the bell having completed her chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and Blue Steal is in the Sticht Center. His family moves this weekend. DM Palin for help with the move and DM Greenspan for info on taking him meals.

I took us out with prayers for the aforementioned, thanksgiving for what F3 means to all of us (the fellowship more than the fitness) and asking God to keep us focused on glorifying Him in all that we do.

As always, thanks for the opportunity to lead and thanks for each of my F3 brothers.  Only a few are mentioned above, but each of you has impacted me in positive ways.  I can’t imagine the last 5 years without you guys.  EH an FNG today!
