Cool, Flat, and Fast — OGs and Tractors

QIC: Burlap

Date: 14 June 2019

PAX: Razzie, Balco, Winklevoss, Interference, Manscape (WD), Greenspan, Ramses, Sac, RedEye, Drano, Little Piggy, Double Wide, Beverly, JuiceBox, Mongoose, Glazer, Walter White, Thor, The Vig, Litterbox (WB), Bueller, Zuckerberg, Valdez, Lemming, Van Pelt, Burlap (QIC)

Pax of 26 paraded through West Highlands, Ardmore, and Buena Vista, finally returning to their roots at good ol’ Hanes Park.

Routes were published separately in the pre-blast.  [Psst, you won’t need them until it’s time for you to Q OGs and Tractors, and then you will want to break them back out.]

COT

  • Lunchbunch was today at Senor Bravo’s on Marshall.  Let me say that 75% of the group walked there and discovered that the Marshall St bridge is no longer available to foot traffic.
  • Bueller has Q at Charlie Foxtrot tomorrow.
  • Join Beverly and others next Sunday (June 23) around 3 pm on their last few miles of a 411-mile journey from Wilmington to downtown W-S for the opening of Moji.  See pre-blast on this site, and watch for Twitter.  See SVP for pre-run drinks.
  • Little Piggy and his M are moving to Philadelphia.
  • Pray for The Vig as he faces a difficult conversation.
  • Pray for Peacemaker and his M.
  • Pray for Plunger’s father as he recovers from heart surgery.
  • YHC took us out.

NMM

  • The temps were in the mid 50s, humidity was modest, and the skies were clear.
  • Pax seemed to appreciate the route without any major, sucky hills.
  • Two Pax were shirtless.  Those two Pax were among the fastest runners.  Coincidence?
  • YHC was glad to see at least two cars with more than one person, as folks in Brookberry and Greenbriar were commuting.  YHC knows that still others ran from/to home.
  • Age range was only 38 years from WB to WD.
  • One of the Pax who used to be a faithful regular at OGs returned after a multi-month (-year?) absence.  Said Pax nearly forgot his F3 name.  He was invited to attend a bootcamp, and he declined.  In other news, the earth continues to rotate.
  • Large group of OGs left the parking lot at about 0526, as YHC saw them running in a pack down Glade at about 0527.  They were appropriately wearing light colored clothing or reflective gear and RUNNING AGAINST TRAFFIC.  Good job.
  • Zuckerberg pulled into the parking at 0528 and still caught and beat most of that pack above.
  • There is no telling where and how long Drano ran, as he came in the from wrong direction on Sunset.  Probably did 8 miles.
  • Thanks to Lemming for running with me and pulling me through the last couple of miles.

YHC was thinking how oddly powerful and yet honored and humbled one feels when one sets the route for over two dozen other men to run and then knows that they will dutifully run it.  It is a privilege to Q this group and a great responsibility to keep the route interesting yet simple, challenging yet safe.  Thanks for the opportunity.

Continue to look out for and love one another,

Burlap
