Wayfaring through Waterford

DATE:   21 December 2018

QIC:   SGT Schultz

The PAX:    Drama Queen, Harden, Katniss, Ramses, Sassy, Schneider, SGT Schultz, The Singing Cowboy, Spamalot, Sour Mash

YHC had a hellaciously busy day at work yesterday, leaving little spare time to come up with route(s) and  pre-blasts publicizing the same.  It wasn’t long before the peanut gallery chimed in — shrilly — with multi-lingual demands for the route in English, Spanish and German.   YHC finally published the route at 1500, but failed to include a turn by turn (TBT) guide. I realize that my reputation for land navigation prowess precedes me, but what a tough crowd! After arriving at the SP at 0510, I posted a TBT by 0515. By that time, Katniss and Ramses had already started.

Rather than having to contend with a cold and rainy run in the mid-40’s, as the forecast had indicated, we were instead blessed with generally dry weather in the mid-50’s.

The route was as follows:

  • SP at Waterford Pool
  • L on Glengariff
  • R on Curraghmere (YHC actually turned left here, but it all worked out fine)
  • Follow Curraghmere until it reaches Michelle Drive
  • U turn
  • Proceed on Curraghmere until you reach Rossmore
  • R on Rossmore
  • L on Lasater Road
  • L on Waterford Village Drive
  • Run the entire length of Waterford Village Drive until it dead ends
  • U turn
  • Proceed on Waterford Village Drive
  • R on Glengariff
  • R on Curraghmere
  • R on Glengariff
  • R on Kildare
  • L on Slane Road back to SP

Total distance: 3.6 miles

Total elevation: 228 feet

During the route, YHC ran into Drama Queen, who had gone to the wrong pool, realized his error, drove to the correct pool, and caught up to YHC. Well done!

NMM/COT:

  • Bluto has posted a detailed guide to the F3 holiday workout schedule
  • Sour Mash has opted to become a Duke fan for the month, leading YHC to write Sour Mash out of my Will
  • Praises for The Singing Cowboy’s mother-in-law, who will be coming home from the hospital today
  • Prayers for Sour Mash’s and Schneider’s Aunt, who is struggling with cancer
  • Prayers for YHC’s in-laws, who are in declining health
  • YHC led us out in prayer
  • Immediately after the run, the PAX convoyed over to the Clemmons Biscuitville, where we met Ice Dancer and his 2.0, Spider Monkey, for a nice breakfast and some Second F.

Thanks for the keys, Schneider, and your faith and trust that I wouldn’t totally screw it up!
