The PAX:  Drama Queen, Fingers, Sassy, SGT Schultz (Q), Total Recall (WB), Vegemite, Ziggy Stardust

A magnificent seven PAX gathered on a pleasantly cool morning at the Clemmons YMCA for a post-rain beatdown led by YHC.

WARMARAMA:

  • SSHs
  • Hillbillies
  • Arm Swirlie Things
  • Whirlies with a Social Disease
  • Abe Vigodas
  • Standing Hamstring Stretches

THE THANG:   Mosey to the Shelter at the Front of the YMCA next to the cinder track.

BEAT DOWN # 1:  Pair off into 2-Man teams.  While Partner # 1 runs a lap around the track (approximately 3/8 of a mile), Partner #2 performs a pair of chest/arm/shoulder exercises and leg exercises in 15 rep sets until Partner # 1 returns, then Flap Jack:

  • LAP 1:  Dips x 15 reps ; Squats x 15 reps (repeato exercises  in 15 rep sets until Partner # 1 finishes his lap.  Swap out, with Partner # 2 now running while Partner # 1 performs the exercises)
  • LAP 2:  Irkins x 15 reps; Alternating Lunges x 15 reps (repeato these exercises in 15 rep sets until Partner returns from running and then swap out)
  • LAP 3:  Bench Presses (get under the picnic table and press it) x 15 reps; Monkey Humpers x 15 reps (repeato these exercises in 15 rep sets until Partner returns and then swap out)
  • LAP 4:  Skull crushers with paver x 15 reps; right leg step-ups x 15 reps (repeato these exercises in 15 rep sets until Partner returns and then swap out)
  • LAP 5:  Derkins x 15 reps; left leg step-ups x 15 reps

We continued until everyone had run at least 4 laps

BEAT DOWN # 2:  ROLLING THE DICE:   The PAX divided up into 2 teams (Partner # 1s on one team and Partner # 2s on the other).  YHC had pre-planned 15 rounds of exercises, with each round consisting of one relatively difficult exercise pitted against an opposing, far easier exercise.   For example:  Burpees vs. Overhead Claps or Mike Tysons vs. Jack Reachers.   For each round, a representative from each team was tasked to roll three dice.   The team whose representative rolled the highest number “lost” and had to perform that number of reps of the harder exercise, while the team that rolled the lower number “won” and only had to perform the lower number rolled of reps of the easier exercise.  The exercises for each round were announced prior to each dice roll, so the PAX knew ahead of time exactly what was at stake.  Lots of fun was had until Drama Queen beat all of the odds (or the odds beat him!) and rolled the Beast (a 6-6-6) during the round that Burpees were at stake, resulting in our team having to do 18 Burpees while the other team looked on with glee as they did their measly Overhead Claps.

We continued until all 15 rounds of exercises were completed at 0610 hours.

MARY:   Mosey back to the parking lot for a short session of Mary via democracy, involving an assortment of box cutters, low flutters, penguin crunches and mutton crunches called by the PAX.

COT:

  • Schmedfest and Schmed Olympics on August 25 at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds
  • Total Recall found a note on the ground written in crayon by a young man named Caleb in which he set forth his goals for his camp:
    • Make Friends
    • Do My Best
    • Team Work
      • Out of the mouths of babes: We can and should all follow the example set by young Caleb in establishing our priorities
  • Prayers for the victims of the Duck Boat tragedy in Missouri
  • Prayers for the victims of the shooting incident in Toronto
  • Prayers for Elmer Fudd, who was involved in a vehicle accident that, while not at all his fault, resulted in the person who hit him losing his life.
  • Prayers for Ziggy Stardust, whose family has suffered an unbelievable tragedy
  • Total Recall took us out with solid words of prayer and comfort

PLAYLIST:  DQ especially dug the 70s music served up by YHC!

Very solid beatdown, Sgt. Schultz! Even after the morning run, YHC is still feeling the workout from yesterday. T-Claps for Qing!

Nice playlist Schultzy! YHC is very familiar with all those tunes, except ‘Spill the Wine’. Looking that one up right now.
