3 PAX assembled in the gloom this morning for The Distillery, joined by a fourth PAX who posted for #WIB that was to launch from The Distillery, but never got lift-off in the absence of the #WIB Q.  That fourth PAX (Lite Brite) happily joined up with the assembled Distillery crew.

WARMARAMA:

  • SSH x 15 IC
  • Seal Claps x 12 IC
  • Overhead Claps x 12 IC
  • Peter Parkers x 12 IC
  • Whirly’s With a Social Disease x 12 IC
  • Abe Vigodas x 10 IC
  • Standing Hamstring Stretches (left leg over right) x 10 count
  • Standing Hamstring Stretches (right leg over left) x 10 count
  • Thurman Munson squat stretch x 15 count

THE THANG

The fearsome foursome moseyed to the football field in the rear of Clemmons Elementary and did a warmup lap around the athletic fields (approximately 1/2 mile).   Upon completion, the PAX partnered up (Ice Dancer & Lite Brite; Fingers & SGT Schultz) and retrieved one cinder block per pair.

  • Shoulder Press with Cinder Block to 21:  Partner 1 lifted the cinder block overhead for 1 rep then handed it to Partner 2, who did 2 reps and then handed it back to Partner 1, who did 3 reps, etc., etc.  Continue until Partner 1 finished his last turn of 21 reps of shoulder presses with the cinder block.  The partners then ran a lap together.  Eager to return to their cinder block, SGT Schultz and Fingers chose to run a shorter 1/4 mile lap, while Lite Brite and Ice Dancer, who wanted to delay their return to cinder block work as long as possible, elected to run a 1/2 mile lap together.
  • Alternating Lateral Lunges with Cinder Block to 15:  Partner 1 performed  single count alternating lateral lunges with the cinder block for 1 rep then handed it to Partner 2, who did 2 reps and then handed it back to Partner 1, who did 3 reps, etc., etc.  Continue until Partner 1 finished his last turn of 15 reps of alternating lateral lunges with the cinder block.  Run a lap (same distance for each pair of PAX as before — 1/2 lap and 1/4 lap)
  • Curls with Cinder Block to 15:  Partner 1 performed a standard two-armed curl with the cinder block for 1 rep then handed it to Partner 2, who did 2 reps and then handed it back to Partner 1, who did 3 reps, etc., etc. Continue until Partner 1 finished his last turn of 15 reps of curls with the cinder block. Run a lap (same distance for each pair of PAX as before — 1/2 lap and 1/4 lap)
  • John Cusack Calf Raises with Cinder Block:  Lite Brite and Ice Dancer began this set, consisting of performing calf raises with the cinder block held overhead John Cusack style.  However, as we were fast running out of time, they did not get very far along, while Fingers & SGT Schultz did not get to enjoy this set at all.

Return the blocks to their home and head back to the parking lot.

At the side of the school building, the PAX stopped to do the Mike Tyson Squat Workout, consisting of the following:

  • Each PAX starts with 10 playing cards lined up one by one in a row approximately 3 inches apart.
  • Squat and pick up the first card off of the ground, then move forward to the next card and squat down to place the first card on top of the second card
  • Squat down twice more to pick up each card individually, before moving ahead to the third card.
  • Move ahead to the third card and squat down twice to place each card in your hands in a stack on top of the third card, then squat three times to pick up each card before carrying the cards to the fourth card in the row, and proceed forward with the pattern through the row of cards.
  • Continue this pattern of individually stacking and picking up the cards until each PAX moves through all 10 cards in their row,  resulting in the completion of 100 squats.

Upon completion of the Mike Tyson Squat Workout, the clock struck 0615.  Alas, there was no time for MARY.  She’ll get hers some other time.

COT:  

  • Prayers for Lite Brite’s daughter, who is striving to overcome obstacles and move forward in her life
  • Prayers for Fingers’s stepson, who is struggling with addiction and searching for his path forward
  • Prayers for SGT Schultz’s father-in-law, who underwent amputation of his lower left leg Tuesday night and is struggling with numerous health issues
  • Lite Brite took us out, lifting up these loved ones in prayer and asking our Lord to guide us in our lives
