YHC has been on the IR and DR for several weeks and wasn’t sure how things were going to work out this am.  A dream (more like a nightmare) jolted YHC from sleep before the alarm went off this am.  In the dream, YHC has the Q for RnG but has listed the wrong starting point for the run in the pre blast and everyone was there and we all had to drive to the correct launch point since we could not run there from our current starting place.  In the dream, YHC gets lost on the way the correct launch site and shows up only in time for the COT.  Needless to say, there was no falling back to sleep after that rude awakening.

There was a good crowd at the start and only a little confusion with some of the Outhousers confused with the headlamps and reflective vests on some Pax.  The camps divided up for their respective choices at 0530 and we took off.

The Thang:

We ran a simple route with very few turns and ended up being a little shy of 5K despite the Map My Run estimates of 3.17.  http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2066296357

Out to Robinhood

Left on Huntingreen

Right on Petree

Left on Polo for a short distance then turn around

Right on Robinhood back to park

Tabata: 20 seconds on and 10 seconds of rest for 8 rounds

Irkins

Low Flutter

Dips

American Hammer

COT was combined with the Outhouse and Van Gogh led us out

Prayers for Drew (a future FNG), one of our incoming interns who fell and injured his ankle and will likely require surgery.

NMM:

There was some discussion by the Outhousers, about the intelligence of their workout choice after being crushed by the one year older Van Gogh.

Sorry that the 5Kish route was a little short this morning.  It seemed to be okay since it gave us some extra time for Tabata.

Despite running a crazy race (Quest for the Crest – over 3,000 ft of climbing) yesterday, Van Pelt was moving with ease.  It was all YHC could do to try and keep up with him.  Sounds like Van Pelt will be doing more trail running and has a 50 K in his future.

Wiki is working on his “Interference Like”  running form and he was just cruising today.

Pita was really getting after it today and he liked the course despite the disagreement on the number of hills on the route.

Hedwig enjoyed the course, but then again, he enjoys everything.

Bout Time was recounting his bike racing days and the challenges of the hill with a bike.  He had no trouble running up the hill today and could have easily been carrying a bike and still flown past YHC.

Juice Box made it look easy today as he coasted past YHC.

The tabata timer was better today than on previous editions but the music was not ideal.  The Pax did not have any suggestions, so it was to be 80s radio station on Spotify.   Somehow it was artists who were in their 80s or died in the 80s.  It was much more painful than the workout.

YHC hated to miss a Van Gogh workout, especially a birthday celebration, so that prompted the Launch from the Outhouse.  It was nice to be able to do COT together and to see some folks that we haven’t seen in a while.

Thanks to all for the push and pull this morning.  It is always great to have the ability and opportunity to join you all in the morning.
