NMM

  • Believe it or not, I do not have a spreadsheet with everyone’s times on MapMyRun for all their runs.  However, I do have a pretty good sense of how fast many guys run thanks to MMR and the consistency of OGs and Tractors.  So, based on a quick review of the MMR feed, I am guessing there were a few PRs posted today — at least in the last few years of the runners’ lives — I can’t speak to how fast you were at 23 years of age.
  • YHC guesses that Winklevoss, Peacemaker and BoutTime were happy with their paces, among others.
  • YHC attributes the speed to at least three things, as you can tell from the title of this BB:  Low temps (42), flat route (relatively flat, under 300 feet of climb), and the sub-conscious push we give/get when running near others.
  • The out-n-back was intentional on my part, as I like to see who is in front and behind me, AND it offers opportunities for encouragement.  YHC normally only hears “good job” when getting passed by the PAX, but this morning I was both met and passed, so I got two rounds of greetings.
  • The out-n-back was also helpful to the Tractors, as they ran roughly 4 miles by skipping that trip up/down Arbor.  Worked out well.
  • Just an observation, but Beverly, Mongoose and Walter White have high cadence (turnover) in that their feet touch the ground more frequently than mine do, thus their faster speeds.  Beverly in particular has high cadence, I noticed this a.m.  My friends Zuck, Patch and Winklevoss have similar cadences to mine (maybe a bit faster) but their stride lengths are 25-33% longer than mine, thus their faster speeds.  At least YHC sweats and breathes faster and more than those guys.
  • Balco and Mr Hand are strong amd steady as rocks.
  • A huge group of dudes started out about 10 seconds ahead of me — too many to name — I never caught them.
  • T-Claps to both Wiki and Fingers who ended up running most of the route alone due to early and late start times, respectively. YHC hopes that each of you saw a few Pax on the route.

Thanks to Chomper for keeping me in the Q loop and for Goose’s good work as Tractor Site Q.

Peace,

Burlap

Great route @Burlap – including the down-and-back… I liked it.

And yes, according to my watch set a PR for 10K! Thanks @Burlap! And thanks to @WW and @Mongoose for the hot start (that I could barely keep up with), and for the footsteps that I heard from @Patch just before the turn-around at Arbor/Forest.

Love the observations on ‘cadence’… pretty spot-on in terms of the guys with high-turnover versus those with longer strides.

Great job to all this morning! Not gonna lie… there were a few pax that I really wanted to catch (not that I’m competitive or anything), but never came close. Good push… #ISI!!!
