With a Warm-a-rama on the move, we migrated to get some game pieces.  (Cinder blocks)  We then made our way back to the side parking lot to start our little game…called…Greek Fire!  (Naming rights belong to Greenspan)  As all good game makers do, I decided to use this group as my Focus Group to work out the kinks.

Instructions:

  • Divide up into two teams
  • Each team is given a 6-sided dice
  • One team member from each team (it can rotate amongst other team members) will roll the dice at each station, while another team member draws a card for the specific movement that team will complete.  (Each team has different movements at each station.
  • If the dice is rolled and a 2 comes up, multiply by 10 and that is how many reps EACH team member completes.  Same goes for higher numbers…3 is 30 and 6 is 60 and so on.
    • IF A 1 IS ROLLED, YOU SKIP THAT STATION.
  • There are 4 stations set up in a loop.
    • Full Body Station
      • i.e. Burpees, HR Burpees, Jumping Jack Flashes (ask Greenspan), Dive Bombers
    • Upper Body Station
      • i.e. Merkins, Dips, OH Press (w/ block), Curls, Alt Merkins on the Block
    • Lower Body
      •  i.e. Apollo Ohnos, Lunges (w/ Block), Goblet Squats
    • Core
      • i.e. WW2s, Low Flutter, Flight Attendants, Heels to Heaven
  • At the end of each loop you pass the “Start” space…once you pass this space 3 times, you run a full loop passing all stations.
  • KEY POINTS TO GAME
    • NO CHEATING
    • Never leave a teammate behind
      • if you finish your reps, pick up some of your partner reps
    • Place the exercise card back after each draw.  (these movements can be repeated)
  • The Team with the most laps in the given time, WINS!
    • There is a penalty for the losing time if time remains.

Some high points of the game:

Both teams started off drawing Burpees…Team 1 had 20 Burpees, while Team 2 had 40 HR Burpees.  And that is where the teams separated!  It did not take long for Team 1 to roll a few “1” to skip stations, while Team 2 made it around 2 times before being able to skip…and they got 3 in a row!  40 Dive Bombers is not fun!  And neither is 40 Flight Attendants.  60 WW2s became a bit boring but we all touched up our F3 tramp stamp for sure.  There was accusations of cheating, but they were met with immediate denial.

A good time was had by all once we pushed through the grumblings and pain.  A few edits have now been made after some very well received feedback.  I plan to put this game in use VERY SOON!

Looking forward to coming back VG!  Maybe we revamp the game a little?
